As a Knoxville native, I was pleased to see Buddy’s come to Cleveland.Yesterday was only my 3rd or 4th time eating at this location and I was pleased with the street taco special.More so, I encountered one of the kindest and sweetest souls I’ve possibly ever had the pleasure to meet working at this store. Her name is Brenda and she is an absolute angel!
Brenda has always been so friendly and cheerful as she keeps the dining room spotless and clean and offers hush puppies, extra plates, etc. to dine-in guest. The food was good and we split a combo, which was plenty for two. I was able to have protein (pork barbecue) and green beans, and my husband got the ribs he had been craving, along with slaw, chicken and hush puppies.
2 stars, 1 for trying to make the order right - 1st time, and 1 for the potato salad. I really do not like to write bad reviews, but I have to say this was an experience, to say the least. I ordered their meal deal, plus a small order of ribs. Got it from the drive thru, in a large box. Took this across town to surprise some friends whom usually give me and/or my hubby a meal from time to time. Got there and to my surprise NO pulled pork was in the box (you can choose pork, chicken, or brisket). I called and the supervisor said she was about to leave and she could bring it to me, I said great, I would appreciate that! She arrives an hour or so later with a bag, I thank her, get it into the kitchen and it's sauce! I call back and get the other manager, and she says she's going to get back to me. I waited another hour and 20 minutes, then called again and was basically told it wasn't going to happen. That they could offer me a discount or I could come pick it up and that the 1st manager was adamant I said sauce. The first thing that really stood out was the fact that they actually thought I would call and complain about some bbq sauce, when I stated everything I had and then what I did not have, which was NO MEAT. However, the young manager must have been too distracted to pay attention, in fact, the way she responded on the phone was as if she saw or new from word of mouth about forgetting pork. An hour later after this catastrophe, I have someone pick up some bbq on the way home...another $27 for bbq, that I had already paid $55 for in the first place. The person that paid for it, was the same person I was trying to treat a meal to. honestly, if it had been me, I would have figured out a way...even if I had to call a taxi for the meat! So disappointed, really.
I have mixed feelings about this place. The food isn't real barbecue, it's cooked and topped with barbecue sauce. I was expecting a typical restaurant and this isn't. It's more like a fast food joint than a true restaurant. These are the things that ruined my experience. There were other things, but that would be truly "nit picking". The over all experience is OK, but I won't be back anytime soon as I can get better elsewhere when I am looking for barbecue.
It had been a while since we had eaten at Buddy’s so we dropped in for some of their delicious BBQ. The service was good with excellent hospitality! The restaurant was not very busy and appeared very clean. Our food was delivered fast and hot. We even received some fresh, hot hush puppies after starting our meal which was super nice! Thanks for the good experience!
Excellent service for a wedding/reunion on a Sunday morning. Food for 15 teady in 10 min. Fresh BBQ with all the sides you need. Great location for hotel overnighters. Will be back.
We stopped for lunch at about 11:15 am. 2/7/22. I don't believe they had the heat on, because it was freezing in there. They were already out of slaw, and the ice machine was not working. No ice was provided. The food was prepared well and the staff were pleasent.
All you can eat Saturday is where it's at. Fall off the bone ribs were amazing and the lady walking around checking on everyone was super sweet.
Very consistent.. if I want to get a quick BBQ fix for the fam I can count on them always. Great food and sides. Drive through workers always spoil my dog too lol ?
The food was fine but there was a level of dysfunction among the employees behind the counter but, hey the food was good.
