Best meal in years. Maitrde and waiter were superb as was the dinner.Truly one of the best dining experiences in a long time..including some very memorable meals in Europe
St. John's is a restaurant situated in the heart of Chattanooga and it is the go-to fine-dining establishment here. As you enter the place, a magnificent setting, a delightful marriage of antique and luxuries of modernity welcome you. Sitting in any table, you have a wonderful view of the restaurant that adheres to the traditional dining experience. For those who do not book a table and are waiting, there is a cozy lounge. The menu offers a wide variety of mouth-watering starters. They were exquisite. All the products were fresh and the dishes had thewarmth of homemade food. The chefs seems to take great care in selecting the best quality ingredients. Service did not fall short of the high quality of the cooking.Despite the high price of the food, I had a pleasant dining experience with food of the most exquisite flavors. For this reason, I highly recommend going to St. Johns.
Excellent meal; antelope perfectly medium rare was delicious and generous vegetable accompaniment. My partner had the halibut which was also cooked to perfection. Didn’t try the desserts but the table next to us vouched for the taste (and they looked very tempting too). Good wine list and competent service. Only the bench seating which was a bit low could be improved - otherwise a perfect evening
Service was excellent. There was a bit of a lag between first course and main course. We ordered mushroom toast for the table and scallops as a first course. My red snapper was fresh and tasty. My husband's duck was perfectly prepared with the exception of being over-salted. Dessert was a peanut butter bomb that reminded us of a tag-a-long girl scout cookie.
the food was fabulous, wait staff was attentive and never far away. Had the pork belly biscuit and pickled beets for apps, then the snapper for the main course. Stuffed and it was reasonably priced.
We have been here many times and the food is always excellent. Everything on the menu is always prepared well. I would skip the deserts. The reason for the four instead of the five is because of the cocktails. You would think that for the price you pay that you could get a cocktail with some alcohol in it and not just ice and a mix. We will just drink water next time.
a nice upscale restaurant with great food.
Have been going to SJ for a long time, but havent been in about 2-3 years. Service is excellent, although I felt that my service was rushed compared to previous visits. Our meal came out hot on the heels of our second course which was unexpected. The drinks were good. I had the barrel Old Fashioned which was excellent. As far as food: 1. Main lobster/brussel sprout salad: very good and different. 2. Wifes "beet tartar" Tastless. Avoid . 3. Wifes steak. So soft that I wondered at their tenderizing method. Ever have a steak so soft that you feel you could tear it apart with your fingers? I like a little texture in my meat. 4. Pan seared Duck: The slices were good (not great) but the awful thing was the duck leg that was included. It was so salty that you could hardly bear to put it in your mouth. It was like someone poured a box of salt on it. Confit was essentially tasteless. 5. Dessert: Peanut butter bombe. Best part of the meal. I would eat that all day! Summary: not the worst meal you will ever get (except for that duck leg) but for that price it should be close. Thank you.
The experience was wonderful. Tommy/Thomas our waiter was the best. Very attentive, knew the menu well, always checking on us from a distance but close enough to be right there without being on top of us. The dinner was spectacular. The mushroom and goat cheese bread was nice, the salad was just right and the Wagyu Beef and Trout were perfect. We finished off with Beignets and a Toffee dessert. I would recommend this experience to anyone looking for fine dining in a relaxed environment. Thanks
A restaurant experience. The meal was expensive but decadent. For the starter we had the pork belly biscuit and seared scallops. For the entree we had the seasonal truffle dish with the filet. Wow it was good. She had the carrot cake and said it was most unusual and fantastic. I had the assorted sorbets. The raspberry was great. The coconut was also very good but the Mexican chocolate sorbet stole the show. I’m sure all the servers are very attentive but ask for Sean and you won’t be disappointed. Tell him Karl sent ya.
