We were staying at a nearby hotel and read some good reviews so decided to place a to go order. Walked 3 blocks In the heat and 3 back only to find No sweet & Sour sauce in the bag. BUT we weren’t going to let that ruin the dinner we had lots of duck sauce for a bit of flavor instead and I had spicy chicken & broccoli. What DID ruin the meal is that THAT was all we tasted…. The duck sauce and the spice! The fried rice and vegetables were completely tasteless and of course so was the chicken without the sweetness of the missing sauce. Most of it went into the garbage.
I don’t normally review places, even if they are bad, but I felt compelled to this time. I will NEVER set foot in here again. The staff was extremely rude. We walked in and sat ourselves down (because no one would acknowledge us - although we were the only customers there). After staring at us coldly for a minute, she yells across the room for us to come order up front. We obliged but it was clear we were getting in the way of her watching TV on her phone. We both order the exact same thing, but somehow one was several dollars more expensive than the other. They make you pay before you get your food too, so I felt forced to leave a tip that was certainly not deserved! And I AWAYS tip at least 20%. Once the food was ready (about 2 minutes later) she brought it to us but made us get up and get our own forks! This was the worst, most uncomfortable time I’ve had in a restaurant in about a decade. I honestly can’t believe they are in business. Please, please, please shut down so people don’t accidentally stumble in here and have to deal with with horrendous mess called a restaurant. Food was mediocre and the portions were small for the price as well.
When I want good Chinese food or sushi in Chattanooga, this is always my go-to place. Everything always tastes freshly prepared, very flavorful, and is packaged perfectly. Great portions for very reasonable prices. My favorites are the egg rolls, hunan shrimp, orange chicken, and sesame chicken. Their vegetable lo mein is also some of the best I’ve ever had. I’ve ordered from them countless times and never had a bad experience.
My wife and I walked from our hotel over to his sushi place. The sign outside looked great. When we looked in the door it was not what we expected. It did not look very nice at all and was rather drab. We rolled the dice anyway because we were starving. I am so glad that we did. The food was AMAZING!!! We ordered some soup and some pot stickers. They could not have been better. Our sushi was on point and we loved it. We also ordered some Mongolian beef. This dish left us amazed at how good it was. WE WILL BE BACK
I'm a truck driver picking up next morning close to town. I ordered Beef and broccoli through a delivery service tonight. I'm extremely impressed by the portion and the flavor. I highly recommend.
I am being generous. Their sushi was good. However, I ordered the Seafood Delight. It stated lobster, crab, shrimp,scallops, and mixedvegetables. It was bland. The crab or lobster meat had a mushy texture when you bit into it. It was a waste of money. I will not try it again. I could only rake a few bites. I just put the rest in the refrigerator.
Sam's Club sushi is better than the sushi here. I also ordered dumplings & spring rolls. The sushi was legit inedible. It smelled awful. The other food was good, but I felt sick after eating it. Hard pass.
I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken entree recently, and instantly I could tell that the chicken was off. Furthermore, as someone who has worked in several downtown and northshore Chattanooga dining establishments, and licensed and certified in TN state health code, I can tell that the chicken I was served was not fresh, freezer burned, and prepped by a person without any apparent sense of sight, taste or smell, forget knowledge of food safety. The health inspector needs to make a surprise appearance. Before these [email protected]?#%+*^s make someone sick. If you’re looking for edible Asian cuisine, this is NOT the place you want. Chattanooga doesn’t have any great Chinese restaurants, but New China in East Ridge is way f&$+]£g better than this hole. The worst place to eat, surrounded by great places to eat.
I ordered from this restaurant yesterday through DoorDash they charged my card three different charges and amounts for one order those amounts were higher than what I authorized on DoorDash for them to charge for my order. They also charged me an extra $4.80 for my two sushi rolls when the roll was supposed to be $7.50 I ordered two of them which would make them $15 total for the two rolls they charged me $19.80 for two rolls. The Fish and the cream cheese tasted bad and funky like it was old and outdated.
I've been ordering here for the past 7 months and this is my favorite place to order Chinese and sushi! (Today was my first visit inside. I've been getting delivery.) The food is delicious and the service is quick. Also, they have a 97 score! I highly recommend Shangri-la! I already have other members of my family eating here!
