I just loved this place. Favorite atmosphere, comfortable seating, extensive menu, great service, fairly priced and a "side car" with my lemon drop. I basically got two for the price of one ($11.) The ahi tuna salad was excellent, and whichever salad hubby got he said was real good too. Haha. We hit it for a late lunch on a Thursday. I wish I lived closer. Easy off and on the highway.
A decent drive from NE Tennessee put me in the mood for lunch at this place, close to I-75, in Chattanooga. Quick on and quick off the interstate. Also quick reception and quick seating. It was a little after 1 on a Thursday. Our server, Adam, was not just pleasant, but an aggressive listener, and delivered a tasty Lemon drop martini with a "side car". A sidecar, as it turns out, was a mini carafe in goblet of ice water, containing more lemon drop deliciousness. It was a thing of beauty at $11 for the whole drink. The Cypress Salad with the crispy chicken was excellent. Crispy on the outside and tender in the middle. The honey mustard dressing had citrus notes and was not basic mass produced dressing. The ahi tuna salad was excellent as well. Every server wore black, looked ready for work, and service was best. Great place and great atmosphere. Greeneville TN needs a place like this real bad.
Nestled right next to Hamilton Place you will find this comfortable well done restaurant. We found the service to be top notch in the Chattanooga area. All members of the staff must attend some form of training, because there are fantastic. We had three people in the party one had, the Snake pasta, which I’m told was excellent. Given the small food coma my friend had post meal, I’d likely agree. My girlfriend enjoyed the chicken, which she reports was cooked perfectly and the seasoning she had on the chicken was the perfect mix of flavor without overpowering the meal.I, had the rib-eye of course. I’m pleased to say they cooked it perfectly. The mashed potatoes and asparagus are delicious. I did find the rib-eye sauce a bit strong, but then again, I’m prone to enjoy a dry rub on my steak, so it’s not really about the restaurant it’s me.Finally we shared the carrot cake, which is served warm and in a generous portion. Superb.I did get to try the croutons they place on the salad and next time I go here, certainly getting a salad. Why four and not five? I feel like the establishment is a bit dated, like a renovation is in order.
We ordered the fillet mignon, with the popcorn shrimp and it was wonderful. The environment inside was very unique. It was definitely a great experience. The servers and waitress staff were all beyond exceptional. They were constantly serving drinks and refilling waters. When we come back to Chattanooga this will be a stop on the list. ?
I used to eat at J Alexander very often, pre-covid, and it was a favorite. We ate lunch today and all I can say is it was a big disappointment. The Cypress Salad had no croutons and the chicken tenders were room temperature. Also very little avocado. The dressings were not as good as they had been previously either. The Emerald Coast Shrimp should have been an embarrassment for J Alexander to serve. The shrimp were small, almost popcorn type shrimp, very greasy and the flavor was poor. The prices are high but that is OK if the quality is there. Today, we felt like we had been taken advantage of. Apparently others are feeling the same as the dining room was nowhere near full. Better correct quality, and soon.
We have enjoyed J. Alexander's Restaurants in many cities. This one did not disappoint. My local J. Alexander's has take the Rattlesnake Pasta off its menu, I was so glad to have it here.
Such a wonderful dining experience here in the east Chattanooga area modern styling within the restaurant and plenty of room between tables and screens separating booths. I ordered the Prime Rib medium rare with Smashed potatoes our waitress was kind and friendly she took care of needs quite cheerfully. Our food arrived quickly and cooked to perfection piping hot and served with bread, horseradish and prime Rib juice. Food was of superior quality and quantity in fact brought some home and best of all was their Carrot cake not what you might think so moist and flakey drizzled with sugar glaze nice and warm. My suggestion is treat yourself or that someone special in your heart to a meal at J. Alexander's I'm sure you'll be pleasantly satisfied.
My wife has tried to take me here for years. She loves the place. Food was really good and super nice place go to eat. Staff was also super pleasant.
My party and I enjoyed our meal. It was our first time eating here. The service was great and the atmosphere was nice. My husband had a So-cal burger that he enjoyed. My salad was delicious. Our friend enjoyed the rattlesnake pasta and his wife said the shrimp tacos were good. Overall our first experience was so good that we stopped back by for lunch on our way home.
Great food, great service, and the atmosphere was amazing! Oh did I mention the drinks. The were delicious.
