Absolutely stunning! The Karage grits bowl was unlike anything I've ever had. It was delicious. Beautiful space and staff was very nice.
Beautiful restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. Excellent food, wine and spirits. Unfortunately the service is sub-par. The server brought the check before we were done eating and my wife had just ordered another drink. I wasnt afforded the opportunity for another. Too bad. Could be a five star place.
Like the Flying Squirrel. Great drinks and good food. I think that the menu could be a little better but the food is well prepared and plated very well.
My goodness gracious where do I start!I must say, we came to splurge, and splurge we did- in the best way possible.Having never had it but desperately wanting to, the okonomiyaki was a pleasant surprise. It was everything I dreamt of and more! Absolutely delicious and totally worth trying. Do be warned, that plate is quite large! With three of us (and how delicious the garlic fries were), we couldn’t quite finish it, so come hungry! Now, the garlic fries. Wow, something so simple done so excellently; I’m daydreaming about the fries while writing this, and probably again when you’re reading this! I can’t rave enough. They came with ranch and ketchup but frankly they were absolutely perfect as is.The Japanese salted salmon was cooked perfectly, and seasoned likewise. Incredibly tender and juicy with a perfectly crisp skin- this wasn’t my dish as I don’t generally enjoy salmon, but man I’d order this in a heartbeat! Boyfriend had the salmon and said he dislikes beets but absolutely loved the application here.I had the flank steak and MAN was I wowed! Juicy, tender, perfectly seasoned, and perfectly cooked. The brandy mustard cream sauce is to die for. Honestly I will HAVE to get it again, and with a little extra sauce it was so dang good. The chef cuts the steak on a harsh bias in several slices making it incredibly tender and a lot easier to cut and eat compared to your standard steak. The plating allowed all the resting juices to be soaked into the (somehow still crispy!) potatoes below so nothing went to waste, and every bite was a beautiful blend of rich, tangy, creamy, meaty deliciousness. I have no doubt I’ll be dreaming about it later tonight. For drinks we had the Odd Couple (not pictured) and Summer Water. Now frankly I do not love the taste of liquor, but both drinks accented them incredibly well. Summer Water was perfectly balanced to help cut the richness of the dishes between bites and to cleanse to taste each other’s choices, something nice to sip along steadily through the meal. Now, the Odd Couple- that thing is dangerous! Like, tastes like fancy juice dangerous. The absolute best kind. Arguably one of the best original cocktails I’ve ever had and I WILL be coming back for more.Lastly but certainly not least- service. Absolute five stars. We were sat on the Mezzanine, above ground floor and thus a labor to carry everything we ordered and to check on us properly; Austin and Kyle would’ve fooled you on that, though! Kyle was our server and he had the perfect level of attentiveness. He never swung by us without double checking on us, but not so much he became a nuisance. And Austin, support staff (a plate runner I believe), was absolutely stellar. When switching out with Kyle he would still refill our drinks, and ensure that we didn’t need anything before he continued on being the rock star that he is.I can’t recommend the entire place enough. What an amazing experience. I can’t wait for a little warmer weather so we can eat outside- I’m sure it will be just as stellar. Just be sure to make a reservation, you’ll need it!
Chattanooga wknd, we heard whispers of this spot and decided to grab it for brunch after visiting Ruby Falls. Food was great. We made a reservation in case, were seated early, but noticed it was picking up as we entered full lunch hours.Service was fast and friendly. Portions, decent size. Price moderate, depending on what you order. Fries were on point. I had the shrimp and grits… lots of grits, I had to take them home. Getting used to the amount of grits they serve in the south takes some time. . The only thing that bothered me were the tails of the shrimp were still in the shell which is frustrating to maneuver around and makes for unnecessary mess. But everything was yummy.I particularly loved looking up at the Jenga ceiling. Fun design.Enjoy!!
We had beet salads, which were fabulous and different from any we have had before. We shared butternut squash empanadas, the terrific brussels sprouts, and the pork belly. All delicious. Good beers on tap and a good wine selection. The overall ambiance was spartan and hip, though we are two old folks who dined early and are decidedly not hip. Would definitely return.
We had a really great brunch on Sunday. The service was fast and friendly. The food was excellent and meticulously prepared. The selections were very unique and descriptive. The chicken and waffle featured perfect fried chicken and a fluffy waffle. The breakfast burrito was HUGE and stuffed with chorizo, eggs, potatoes, and cheese. The karaage was a unique addition with Japanese fried chicken over savory grits. The coffee was excellent and the Bloody Mary was well prepared. A very nice experience on the patio.
EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE!!! I never expected this kind of level of food quality in Chatanooga. The foods will be in your TOP3 in your life time. The pork belly is perfectly cooked so it is not dry at the same time just juice enought. Small portion tho. Order it for your appetizer. The duckconfit blew my mind. Usually, your duck confit comes out very soagy on your plate from all the sweet sauce. HOWEVER, this chef does his magic to harmonize the sauce, duck, veggies, and the sauce all together. I didnt even expect the flank steak to be good. I just ordered it for stomach filling. But, the sauce and the fresh veggies just tightly supported the taste of the flank steak taste. I strongly RECOMMEND!!!!
Great sharable plates, a rotating menu, and good cocktail selections. Lots of outdoor seating and very dog friendly. In a good area of downtown.
Portions very small, price too high for quality of food. Steak cooked incorrectly, no side items included. Lamb mediocre, no sides included. Drinks good, appetizers good but too expensive for what they are (basic pork sliders). Staff good. Not worth high price
