I live in the area and I’ve been looking for a special occasion to try this place for a while now. Last night my friend and I had dinner here to celebrate my birthday. Overall we had a great experience. Service was awesome; we took our time and never felt rushed. All cocktails and food on the menu were very good so I really don’t think you can go wrong. 10/10 atmosphere with comfy chairs, pleasant lighting, white tablecloths. Two things that stood out about our server: he had us check our steaks and noticed that mine was too rare before even I did and whisked it away without me having to ask. I loved this because sometimes it can feel so awkward to send food back at a restaurant. At the end of our meal, I requested an after dinner cocktail I had seen on the online menu that wasn’t on the one he had given us and he said they didn’t have the ingredients to make that anymore but he could make me something similar and I loved the creation they came up with. Also just really appreciated that extra effort especially since we were one of the last tables of the evening. Just go you won’t be disappointed!
Amazing service, amazing food, worth every penny. We called ahead for a party of nine about 45 minutes before. They had a table set up for us. We ordered drinks and everyone of them was excellent; from martinis, the old-fashioned’s. I ordered the tomahawk with asparagus and brussels sprouts. I am very picky when it comes to steak. It was cooked perfectly and the meat was some of the best I’ve had anywhere in the world. I would rank it in the top 5. We ordered three different desserts and every one was top notch. The attention to detail from the staff made it a great dining experience!
Absolutely loved the food and service here! My highest compliments to the pastry chef, Ryan Callahan, who created the masterpiece in my photo. This was a perfect blend of flavors and textures in an exquisite presentation.
In the Read House Hotel. Also, has a street side entrance. Loved being served by professionals in white jackets & white tablecloths even though we had on shorts! Meal was superb. We ate here 2 nights in a row. It’s obviously meant to be a “dress-up” restaurant but they allow tourists who did not plan for that to dine as well.
Our family of 3, including a teenage boy, enjoyed a very good meal at this restaurant. The service was top-notch. Our steaks and fish were cooked to perfection and the sides were good. The ambience was lovely and we were able to enjoy a pleasant conversation. Not too much noise, not too close to other diners. We would love to visit again.
We generally enjoyed the setting for our dinner at the Bridgeman's, but it was not the overall quality meal we expected at this price point. The jumbo lump crab cake starter was very good, but the only truly jumbo part was the $26 price. The lobster bisque was delivered to the table with the lobster claw (a little tough) in the bowl, and the liquid portion was then poured over it. I would have much preferred a warm bowl delivered with a less cooked / more tender piece of lobster with a warmer liquid portion all ready to eat when it arrived. The flavor was good though. You know in Boston; some good seafood houses keep their lobster in a vat of warm butter until they pluck it out and drop it in the bisque! Apparently helps to keep it tender. My wife ordered the filet special, and I ordered the Hand Cut Ribeye 16 oz. (hand or machine cut turns out the same in the end, right!). I grill a lot of steak at home and would judge this cut to be choice at best, and maybe a little undersized for 16 oz., but it is difficult to say. I was very specific about the temp I wanted mine cooked, but it came out a little less on one end than I ordered (the other end was fine). There was very little cap, and a measurable portion of the steak was grisly and uneatable. It was seasoned well, but simply disappointing for the $62 price. My wife enjoyed her filet much more than I did the ribeye. We both ordered the “Oscar” topping. While it was an OK addition, there was no wow factor. The service staff was generally attentive and did a decent job, but we did not get a second roll until near the end of our meal.It was quiet at our table, good for conversation, and it was convenient to eat in the hotel rather than having to go out after the drive to Chattanooga, but overall the food ($20 of alcohol but no dessert) did not match our expectations for a $300 final tab, including tip.
On a recent trip we spent the night in Chattanooga. We went to dinner at Bridgeman’s Chophouse, and it really lived up to its name. We had a great waiter, Dave, and the service was top notch. I had a smoked old Fashioned and Elizabeth had a great Dirty Martini. We both had great filet- mine au poivre and Elizabeth’s with Oscar topping. Desert was amazing- a Black Forest Bomb. Lots of cherry and chocolate ice cream. I would highly recommend it. #reedhotel #bridgemanschophouse #bridgemans #chatanooga
A lovely dining Experience. The ambience is amazing the staff was very accommodating.
We’ve been coming to Chattanooga for years and cannot believe we’ve missed this hidden gem! Located in the Read House, the Bridgeman’s Chophouse is one of the best restaurants we have visited. The ambience feels like an old world steakhouse with its dark colors and intimate seating. The service was excellent and Derek took wonderful care to make the night flow perfectly! The menu offers great options, of which we chose: JUMBO LUMP CRAB CAKE-Jumbo Lump Blue Crab, Cajun Remoulade, Arugula, Fresh Lemon , COLOSSAL SHRIMP MARTINI-5 Colossal Gulf Shrimp, Bridgeman’s Cocktail Sauce, Fresh Lemon, PETER RABBIT’S CHOPPED SALAD-Baby Romaine Hearts, Cherry Tomatoes, Grilled Corn, Lardon, Boiled Egg, Charred Lemon Vinaigrette , CENTER CUT FILET with Au Poivre Sauce, ASPARAGUS, and SEASONED HAND-CUT FRIES. ALL were Delicious!!! For dessert, you must try the very light BROWN BUTTER CAKE: Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta, Roasted Strawberries, Strawberry Sorbet, Sweet Whipped Cream, Brown Butter Crumbles.
An exquisite experience with 5 star food.
