We visited 6/15, and sat outside with our dogs. They are well behaved, but we know it’s not always the easiest for restaurants to accommodate… this place was amazing for our pups! They brought out two water bowls, and a fresh piece of bacon (after checking with us). Our server was awesome to them.Even though they were out of what I’d planned on ordering, everything we had was awesome (get the pancakes!). We were seriously impressed. If we were visiting for longer, I’m 100% certain we’d be back. Next time we’re in, for sure!
On our final morning in Chattanooga, my friend and I walked over the valley from our Airbnb, just over half a mile to Aretha’s. Inside it is small but cosy and the service was instant. The walls are covered in an eclectic mix of Horror B-movies and music memorabilia, mostly from punk days of the later 70’s/early 80’s – someone must have travelled around England because some of the posters were very English. My friend had the pancake stack and the pancakes where delightfully light and tasty. I had the bacon and eggs (three of each, I asked for just two eggs) with fried potatoes and biscuit. Now I have previously had a problem with the American breakfast ‘biscuit’ but THIS one was the best I’ve ever eaten, by (and so) far. Includes non-stop coffees. All delicious and if you’re ever down this way, I heartily recommend.
Dining here is a whole experience in itself. I came on a Sunday morning for breakfast and was told it was an hour wait, which luckily it was closer to 35 min. The service was very slow and the menu does warn you that your meal can take up for 30 min for preparing your meal since they have a small kitchen. The food was very good I got the Philly omelette and the pancake with the blueberry melange. It’s definitely a fun place to visit as the restaurant has a different vibe and the food is very good!
Severely short staffed when we visited. Food was good. Not great but good. The unique pancakes were pretty good. Omelet was blah. Cozy and unique place. My food was cold when it got to my table so I have to assume another day might be better. Still gave it 4 stars.
Was aimlessly driving through Chattanooga and got a little off the beaten path, in fact it seemed we were in a neighborhood.Surprisingly what I thought was a bed and breakfast was the most interesting, cool spot to grab a drink and brunch. The brunch was tasty and very filling plus the ability to dine outdoors on a beautiful day made it a 5 star experience. Thanks Aretha Frankenstein!
Funky place for breakfast. Corn pancakes are the specialty. Think soft sweet corn muffin as a thick pancake. Worth the effort as it's off the tourist path.
Be prepared to spend 1.5 hours at this place. When the food finally comes out, it will be cold and not very good. I guess this is their 'thing." They need to get a new thing, because I don't think poor service and bad food works for most people.
Sooo glad our son recommended this place to us!! Loved everything about it. Their decor. The food. The service. Had to have the pancakes, and they didn't disappoint. Great flavor and crusty all around ?I totally agree with the cover of their menu. That's why I took a pic. It is indeed a small restaurant but it's amazing! So go with a good attitude and don't give them a hard time if you have to wait. Just enjoy!
Really cool, small place tucked away in a neighborhood with great food and very fun atmosphere. Parking can be tricky since there is no dedicated lot and you have to find a spot on the street, but its worth it.The breakfast burrito (pictured) was very good and was A LOT of food. We also got a pancake (which was a full inch thick!), and an omelette that were all very good. Really wish we lived closer to visit more, but we will definitely return.
It was our time trying out this restaurant- I came for the pancakes and their blueberry melange. I was disappointed that they didn’t have the blueberry melange (I was looking forward to it) however it didn’t deter us to our expectations and experience. We enjoyed the place and we loved the stack pancakes!
