Good servicer, Lydia. Free parking nice atmosphere. I had Southern fried chicken was good and my wife had very delicious Shrimp and crawfish etouffee and wings. Wings were chewy and turf though their souce was very good.DrinksWe both had a flight of sangria,Blackberry, peach and Citrus
Couldn’t believe there wasn’t more reviews available. Was unsure at first but so glad we pick 1885. Awesome staff and food was exceptional. Highly recommend salmon. Great with the kiddos as well! Will return if visiting again.
a late lunch at this place on the corner. Service was good. Weather was great and the food was fine. Parking is on the street.
We heard great things about 1885. Even our waitress bragged about how much she loved the entire menu. Unfortunately, we were not as enthusiastic. The fried green tomatoes were the best dish we got, but not our favorite version of this dish. The 1885 Burger and Étouffée lacked flavor. While not a horrible experience, definitely didn’t live up to the hype.
Great outdoor seating area and even though it is next to the road the traffic noise was not a problem. The food was quick and fresh. We waited about 30 minutes for a table and sat at the bar and were well taken care of while waiting. They had taken our phone number and texted us when they were able to seat us. We found plenty of parking in the lot at the incline railway nearby.
Waited an hour standing, while half of the outside table were empty. I thought it was some problem of organization, or with the computer, so i decided to talk to the manager, which instead of understanding my point (which it was i am ok to wait, but i would feel better to wait seated to my table with a drink in my hands) he proudly stated that it was his strategy to keep tables empty to help, or pace the kitchen... I did not leave because it was late and nothing was available around, but i surely think something is wrong with the such idea of table/kitchen management. We finally sat, and we ordered enchiladas (which had decent flavor but barely no meat), 1885 burger (which my partner liked it), and a Cuban sandwich (which was nothing to dye for). So my experience was definitely not something i would want to repeat, and i do struggle with a management that is NOT open to suggestion, changes, and/or improvements.
We were very pleased with the service and our meal. The place was very busy, but that didn't translate into poor food or service. I would recommend that the battle stock dry Vermouth - we were told there was none. I know few of us drink dry Rob Roys or Martinis any more, but you never know...
45 minutes to get a bottle of wine..then they brought the wrong bottle..service was atrocious..woukd suggest never going here
This was our favorite restaurant in Chattanooga! The staff is super friendly and the food is delicious. I had the crawfish etouffee and the flavor was amazing! Just be aware that there is no parking at this restaurant. We had to park across the street and walk over but most parking in downtown is metered. We were lucky to find something free. Also, they don't have menus so you'll have to scan the code at the table to get the menu on your phone which is challenging since noone gets signal unless you sit outside. But we made it work...and the food was good enough to overlook all these little inconveniences. I would definitely eat here again.
We found this spot on a trip passing through Chattanooga. What a treat! Our visit was for lunch, and David was our wonderful server. The St Elmo neighborhood of Chattanooga is CHARMING! Appetizers were the fried okra and pimento cheese with pita bread. This was a generous portion that was perfectly prepared. The crab bisque was perfectly delicious also! Entrees were the mushroom and grits Skeeter style (with blackened shrimp). This was superb! Best dish ever! One in our party had the Cuban sandwich with rosemary fries, which was #1! We can’t wait to go back! Thank you 1885 Grill!
