We like Uncle Julio’s for the chocolate piñata which our kids beg for on their birthday so we always go. It is a fun tradition. But let’s be honest. It seems to have gone downhill every-time we have eaten there. We made a reservation for 6p A MONTH AGO. Got there at 6 and were told 15 minutes later that our options were: sitting outside (it was close to 80 degrees with impending storms-which actually hit mid dinner and drove everyone inside or away) or a high top table in the busy bar area which we couldn’t take because we had 80 year old grandparents with us. So we had to wait about 30 minutes for a table in the dining room even though we had a reservation. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a reservation! Once seated we looked around and less than half the tables were seated on a Saturday night. Talk about a Head scratcher. Our server was obviously waiting on MANY tables. But he had no pep in his step, was extremely soft-spoken and if he was interested in his job in the least never showed it. I asked for sweetener for my tea 3 times and never got it until a food runner brought it mid meal (drink already gone-and she brought no refill with the sweetener even after noticing empty glass). The food had taken a while to get there and speaking of food runner…when they finally brought the food, three of us had ordered fajitas…but they didn’t come with tortillas. That was another 5 minute wait with the food just sitting there on the table. We asked for an extra plate or two and they never arrived. We ended up taking the small side plates that the salsa came on and used those for our dinner. Unreal. At least the food was good, right? Wrong. The rice was hard and crispy. Either under cooked or sat under a heat lamp forever. The beans were under seasoned and didn’t have much flavor. The steak fajitas and carne asada were rubbery and tough and under seasoned as well. When we were done eating our empties sat on the table forever. We ended up bussing our own table and stacking and moving everything to one side so we could enjoy conversation and wait for dessert. Finally, the chocolate piñata came and it was fun and delicious as always. At least there was one bright spot. For a $200 dinner at what is supposedly an ‘upscale’ place…the service and food should be MUCH better. We all agreed that the food at our local order by number places is easily twice as good and well over half the cost. With a high volume Chuys opening just up the road, I don’t see Uncle Julio’s lasting much longer unless they get their act together. I’ve already mandated to our family that next time we are eating somewhere else and will just come for dessert.

We booked last minute reservations on a Friday evening for that Friday and fortunately there was availability. We dined outside and it was a very nice evening to do so. We ordered guacamole to compliment the salsa and chips which was all very good. Our orders were for 3 steak tacos each, which were nicely put together with fresh veggies but the steak was barely warm. The gold margaritas were very good but just had a glop of salt stuck to the side of the glass. Our service was good but definitely too slow especially considering the restaurant not being that busy, our food barely being warm in some areas (rice was also cold but beans were scalding) and by Mexican food standards, prices here are not somewhere you can afford to dine regularly.

Awesome! Great place Great people! Awesome workers!

We ate in the bar area and due to delay in our food being served, they gave us credit. Service was excellent ? ? ?

Very friendly and fast service and the food was absolutely incredible!

Food was great, especially the famous chocolate piñata which is back!! Also really tasty and well made margaritas. Need to make this more than an annual experience. Beat service in a long time, too! Thank you, Kathryn!

This is a soft 4 so more like a 3.5. Better than I expected but nothing that blew me away. Food was good not great and maybe a bit overpriced. The flour tortillas are amazing though. Service was good; our server did a great job and was kind. Nice ambience. I would come back but not rushing back.

The restaurant was very cold and we were told the section of the restaurant we were in had an issue with the heat. The food was brought to the table cold and a rude waiter. This was an $85 dollar lunch for two. Don't waste your money with this restaurant!

We ate at Uncle Julio's for dinner last night and it was great. I would have given five stars except I prefer a printed menu and not having to download a menu to my phone.Other than that little deal, our waiter Jairo (sp?) was over and above great. We ate Steak and chicken fajitas for two. They were totally different than I have ever eaten. None the less the quality of the meat was superb, the flavor was outstanding, the sides were perfect, the tortillas were great. My Wife described her Margarita as the best ever.We both highly recommend Uncle Julio's in Brentwood.

Yuck.. Came into town and was estatic to try it.. Unfortunately was the WORST. When seated was asked if I'd like avacado or sure cream.. Answered unsure until I see menu. She then told me that they like to get it ready.. Not even min later"supposed" full fresh prepared chicken and steak was brought to table..a whole 3 skimps of chicken and 3 of steak for 22$ the Jeffe drink which is supposed to be strong tasted like lemonade with watered down vodka.. Rice dry. And as you can see, drink spiced in a clump not rimmed. More than half the plate was onion and when pointed to mgr Zeb, never had many encounters with mgrs but seemed rude and asked if I didn't have enough food and eyeballed me. Showed him the drink and said that's how they're made. Was asked if I would like more tortillas.. For what!? An onions taco .. I'm from out of town so don't know if this is bar for Nashville or Tennessee, but in Illinois or Nebraska my hometown, this would be an embarrassment. Please don't franchise near me. And show the manager and bartender manners and possibly that drinks are spiced around the rim. No wonder plenty places to sit.. Might also want to talk to waiters on discretion on talking in front of guests. Me being a customer find it insulting when someone says 'these people '(rolling eyes) ain't great but tip well. Also, if people are sitting by bar and food at table 10 min after good and waitress says bartender making it and he's joking with waiters... Not good.. Now I see why you barely have 3 stars.
