Wow, what an amazing, awesome meal yesterday from Pops Comfort Food. After my outpatient procedure at VA, my daughter ordered me the sausage and shrimp gumbo and it was smoking good. They could’ve added more rice to compensate for the amount of gumbo. She also ordered the country fried steak with northern beans, and mashed potatoes and gravy. Everything was absolutely stunning, very tasty. Awesome meal Pops!

We were so glad that we stopped and so excited once we saw the food to eat it that we forgot to take pictures. The fried green tomatoes were amazing! The fried chicken dinner with mac and cheese and coleslaw was really good too. The Fried Catfish was battered and cooked perfectly. We also had the Carmel cake and ice cream which was good. Highly recommend this place it was very clean and our waitress was amazing. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

I just received my favorite meal from Pop’s - chicken livers, mashed potatoes, & cabbage. Everything was great, except the cabbage. I’m not sure what happened this go ‘round, but it looked and tasted old/burnt.

They brought us out 6 lunch rolls without asking. 2 cornbread, 2 cornbread w/jalapeno and 2 yeast type rolls. They all appeared to have not risen during the cooking process. The jalapeno tasted good, but it was too thick from not rising. The sides were good and tasted like they were from scratch except the onion rings that had come frozen in a bag. We had pork chops and you could almost see through them they were so thin. I got a pineapple shake to go and it was pretty flavorless as I detected no pineapple taste whatsoever. They failed to meet my expectations and it is hard to believe they are making it on repeat business.

Home cooking done right. I was surprised at the large selection on the regular menu plus a separate daily special menu. I ordered cajun grilled catfish (A+), seasoned green beans (B) and fried zucchini (A++++) - it's worth going for that! Prices were moderate ( $36 for 2 meals and beverage) but did this good was worth it. There is an intersting room filled with interesting crafts and decorations it's a Christmas tree for beach lovers. Great place to browse after placing your order.

Great Food. . I had the bow tie spagetti and fried squash and cabbage..will be back! By far the best home cooked food in Memphis.ordered 3 times now. Love the salmon croquettes..loaded potato soup..nothing is bad here..oops except the corn..not good..dont order...its canned! Grilled cheese blts are great.

I tried Pops because it's in the neighborhood and wanted something different. I ordered the pasta dish. It was so spicey that you couldn't eat it. I thought maybe it was just me. I let five different people try it. All said the same. Also tried the fried fish. Wasn't cooked properly. I don't think that restaurant will be around longer with the type of food they serve people.

The food was great. They have some of the best home cooking around. They also do some amazing things. Tonight, they donated a portion of all meals to a local boy scout troop. That goes above and beyond community commitment. I highly recommend them.

Ordered food through Doordash. Been wanting to try this place since I moved here. Originally everything seemed good; however I'm highly upset. Biggest reason is that I'm in bed dealing with what I believe is food poisoning. My fish was delicious until I got to my second piece and noticed halfway through that it was pink tinged. It tasted mushy, but honestly I was hungry and that fish fry batter was nicely seasoned. My crisp cabbage was burnt and had no real flavor. The biggest let down was the peach cobbler. It was ice cold and doughy. The peaches were hard, not tender at all. They should definitely let you know that you must cook your dessert prior to eating. If that was not meant to be the case, someone owes me an explanation. Did it come out the freezer like this? Is it store-bought? Only thing that makes the food deserve a 1 star is the loaded potato soup. My baby boy enjoyed it and so did I. Like I said fish was good, just undercooked and I'm positive this is why I'm feeling sick. Disappointed by the let down unfortunately.

Wow! Just wonderful. Unique selection of down home country cooking! The sides are great (especially enjoyed the pickled tomatoes), the entrees & soup were very good as well, but the best part was the staff. They were genuinely friendly and honest! Greatly appreciated Wesley who served our table. Will definitely be back!!
