The chicken we got was cold and stale, and the chocolate chess pie was old as well. None of our chicken was fresh.The Mac & cheese was ok, the coleslaw was phenomenal; they really do make some of the best coleslaw. This location’s food is so hit or miss though, it’s really disappointing. The downtown location needs to train the people at this store so the food and quality are consistently good.The chicken we had received had definitely been sitting out for a long time and it was just nasty. I love spicy food, but this chicken was also over the top spicy, and not what we ordered.

I had the pleasure of dining here the wait was rather long but considering it was the weekend it was understandable. The food was delicious and exceeded my expectations, and waitress was excellent. Sweet tea was to sweet for my liking but overall it was a good experience
I counted 20 people behind the counter yet MY 6 peices of chicken took 30 minute's. When I got the chicken I realized WHY it was taking so long. They were overcooking it. $40.00 for 6 peices of overcooked chicken and box Mac n cheese that took 30 minutes.
I eat Gus’s all the time and love it but DoorDashing it they never get it right… there’s always something missing or they put whatever they feel like putting in there except for what you ordered. Even if you paid extra, or don’t don’t even put in what you paid extra for.
Wow… amazing chicken. My family and I love eating all the time from Gus. The chicken is fresh and tasty. My favorite the fried okra. My hubby LOVES their cole slaw. What can I say, best best chicken ever tasted.Let’s not talk about the chicken only. Props to Shelby!!! Fantastic customer service from her. Amazing attitude. She is great with their customers. ???Will keep on eating from Gus. Many thanks to all the staff as well. Keep on doing the great job.
There was nothing they could do any better than they did at Gus's. The chicken was impeccably cooked wildly flavorful and the iced tea was the best I've had in a long time. I got the fried okra for appetizer it was so good I will go to Gus's every time I'm in Memphis.
We eat at this Gus’ frequently. Never had a problem with the food or service until today. Unfortunately we got Lexi as our waitress. I asked for mayonnaise and she said she was sorry but she asked the kitchen if she could give me some and they said no. She said she didn’t want to upset them??? I said- “right, cause it’s better to upset the customer and not the people in the kitchen”. We eat at this location often and I have NEVER been told I couldn’t have mayonnaise. She also never asked about refills on our drinks. The food was good as usual but just not the service.
So I'm an employee at this location. If you are looking for a job of ant kind, go somewhere else. The management is bad, they yell at you and they start fights with you. The job it's self isn't hard but the people there make it hard. Management has violated our workers rights and violated osha policies multiple times. 0/10 would not recommend working here.
Gus’s is never lets me know. The macaroni and cheese is to die for and so is the fried okra. They also have fried fish if you didn’t know and it is amazing also. There are multiple locations located throughout the city.
