Many years ago Sushi Masa was the best sushi place in South Dakota. We routinely made it our date night spot before hitting the Washington Pavilion. But my last few dining experiences were closer to good versus great. A little smaller portions, steeper prices, a touch slower service, and other things add up. I am not saying Sushi Masa is a 2 star or 3 star place, it's just not the 5 star place it once was.
Everything about the experience here was incredible. The seating have arches and mini drapes that give an great feeling of privacy. They give you steamed towellets to wipe your hands with. The stonewear is gorgeous. The tablecloths are even high quality. They give you little lemon slices with the water. It all comes together to far and above the best atmosphere of any restaurant I've ever been to.
Totemo oishikatta! Best Japanese restaurant in South Dakota! I lived in Japan for 18 1/2 years, what a special treat to eat here tonight! I found my new favorite restaurant! gochiso samadesta!
Food was great. Service was top notch. Building is very small and dated. Great place for a quiet date night.
Awesome family atmosphere! The server was great and helped us work through the Japanese culture. I would recommend this to anyone who likes or loves sushi amongst other foods! Came all the way from central Iowa for this amazing food! 10/10 will being coming here again and again.
Not too worldly, so I relied on the staff’s recommendations.Nice looking restaurant, it has six booths, four tables, and three seat bar seats. Nice place, this is the first time for me coming here, however it won’t be the last time.
This place is great! Will definitely be coming back to try more sushi! Our favorites were the special cucumber which is an appetizer and the spider roll first and second photo! We also had the Isobe which is an appetizer too third photo. I was not a fan of but my husband said it was ok.
Exceptional food and service.Properly barbecued unagi or home-made tamago is a hard find. Quality far surpasses most sushi restaurants in the US. Chef and server are amazing. Small but decent sake list. The pricing is extremely fair for the quality.
My favorite restaurant in Sioux Falls, and the best sushi in the region. If you're in time for lunch, the Lunch Special with sushi & sashimi is perfect (chef's choice sashimi, 3 pieces of nigiri, a California roll, and a spicy tuna hand roll), and the miso soup has a distinctly Midwestern leek-and-potato twist. For dinner I love the Omega 3, which has 9 pieces of salmon nigiri and a salmon maki roll, while my husband loves the hanabi roll, shrimp tempura roll, sushi masa roll, Philly maki, and spicy salmon rolls. The owners are kind and delightful and I am never disappointed in the food. Takeout or dine in, you're in for a treat.
