I went to Jacky’s after reading their great reviews. Unfortunately, I soon discovered it was a poorly executed Mexican restaurant branded as Guatemalan. Where was the coffee? Where were the tamales with mole sauce? Plantains? The sopa was unimpressive. The food lacks spice (I don’t mean heat necessarily, just flavor) the meat is dry and bland. Jacky’s sauce tasted sad and was eerily similar to a store bought spaghetti sauce. Is this to suit the weak South Dakota palette? I’ve had a large variety of Central American food in Central America as well as all over the US, and this isn’t it folks. Also the bathroom desperately needs to have the soap dispenser repaired. Using the soap actually made me feel queasy as the machine is broken and the soap is in chunky bits that need to be coerced out of the dispenser.
Absolutely worst food I have ever ordered in Sioux Falls. The refried beans and burritos were so incredibly salty, they were unedible, the taquitos were burnt and tasted like a hay bale with straw inside. And instead of tortilla chips like most Mexican restaurants offer, they served carrots. We had to throw our entire meals away and cook. It was such an insult to see how little they care about the quality of food they serve to people.Never again.
They need better training and manager. Called and they answered and hung up. Called again and answered and let them know I was looking for information on catering and he said hold on and can hear the guys side conversations for 5 minutes straight and never got back at me. If you need catering for an event, this is not the place to contact!!
The food has always been amazing when we stop at this location. Comes out hot. Great portions. Awesome flavors. Some staff members make this a 4-star instead of 5-star. For the love of Pete, please check on us for refills, at the very least!! We had to shoot flare guns and wave flags before we got our server back over to ask him for refills. Will still go back for the amazing food, but hopefully not get that server again.
Best sit down Mexican in Sioux Falls. Their fajitas are amazing. Have to get an extra side of pickled carrots and Jacky’s hot sauce to go on top. The beans are also amazing. Really haven’t had anything we haven’t enjoyed. I also like stealing bites of my daughters steak quesadilla which has great flavor. Would highly recommend!
Great food! Flavor is wonderful.Need better explanations of what the specials actually are. Maybe have prepared samples at the entrance desk?Staff very pleasant and accommodating.
Great food and alcohol beverages frozen mugs and found out that they have Saturday dance very pleased thanks guys??
At Jackys my date and I thought we had everything planned out until we saw the birria tacos and birria quesadillas special on the board at the front. That was a really exciting and delicious find. Combine that with yummy horchata, music and authentic Mexican cokes and we had a great time. Also the tres leches cake was good. Will be back especially if the birria is back too
So very sad - I loved the other place - parking was not easy - we stood at the desk for quite a while as numerous employees looked at us but kept walking which gave us time to notice the chipped paint on the wall - finally a hostess and we got a booth with a huge badly ripped seat - I was afraid it would snag my pants - service a little slower but ok - they use to give you extra chips but now there is a charge - but we didn't get many the first time but the Jacky's enchiladas were disappointing - bland but my husband had the wet burrito and it was fantastic- we LOVED this place before so will try again but I hope they make some upgrades- there is no feel like the old place and now it is so far from us - it will have to get back to normal to want to go across town-Please get better !!!!!!!- we loved it before!!!!!!!!!
Amazing food and service. The authentic Guatemalan dish is amazing. All the orders at our table if 6 were fantastic. Great margaritas too.
