Very good food and the service was excellent.
I have absolutely no complaints as the food was amazing!!! The server Nikki was a sweetheart and explained all options with major descriptions. The steak was super juicy and flavorful! The tacos with dipping sauce was sexy as can be. The beans were REAL made with lard as they should be! Awesome job staff !!Can’t wait to come back !
For those that follow my reviews I have to share this one. We are now in South Dakota and really wanted some authentic Mexican food. Not many options out here. In any event we were told to go to “Que Pasas” so we did. NEVER AGAIN! We then decided to just go to a chain restaurant and we selected this place “On the Boarder”. Great decision. We were here on 5.09.22 around 8pm. Our very attentive server, Maddy, was definitely on it. The place was clean, not packed probably because of the time and the food was actually very good. We had ordered there version of the bang bang shrimp as an appetizer, two entrees, the carne asada and a 3 taco meal with one large watermelon margarita and 2 large beers. Our total was still less than what we paid at the other place including Maddy’s tip. I walked in to this restaurant and didn’t expect all that we received. I’m still looking for the authentic real deal but until or if I ever find it out here we will continue to go to On the Boarder. Heads up, when they say something is spicy, they are not exaggerating. My husband and I had delicious Margaritas and he had a beef chimichanga and I had a Fajita chicken burrito. Everything was delicious and the waitress was awesome! I have eaten at the On The Border in Miami, Florida and always enjoyed the food and drinks there, so I was happy to eat at the one in Rapid City, too! Not disappointed ?
I had the Carne Asada steak with refried beans and mine was delicious. Cooked perfectly and tasted so good. Only negative is for some reason they stopped serving it with the Padilla dipping sauce that made it the best. You have to ask for it now and not all staff remember it used to come with it amd what it is. We also ordered the combination cheese enchilada, chili reanno(spelling) and chicken dish. Unfortunately we did not get what was ordered and the combo brought out was not any of the 3 ordered. Waitress later admitted she made a mistake and apologized. Overall a good dining experience and food quality was good. I highly recommend the steak it was the best part of the evening!!

First time at On the Border and it was truly phenomenal! Hostess and server were friendly and attentive, food was absolutely delicious and made to order and restaurant/bathrooms were clean. If you are in the area, check this restaurant out! 5/5 stars!!!
Just ate lunch with my family and had Taylor W. as our server. She was amazing and gave us the best service we have had there, she was friendly, knowledgeable and always checked to make sure we had everything we needed. The food came out great and quick.
Husband's birthday, they sat us in a booth with dust covered plants hanging over our table, every time someone walked by dust floated down on our table. Coffee was ice cold, asked for a hot one, offered to microwave it for me. no..fresh please. It was 2:15 in the afternoon and we watched wait staff walk around and over chips on the floor. His food was ok but I ordered steak fajitas and the steak was so stringy I couldn't chew it enough to swallow, spit it in napkin. This is sad because it was one of our favorite restaurants. We've watched it go down hill for awhile. Couldn't believe how dirty the place was, if where people eat was that bad...what's the kitchen like?
