I ordered from here hoping they were better than the last Chinese place but I was let down. I ordered orange chicken, fried rice, lo mein, pot stickers, and garlic shrimp. I asked to sub lo mein for the rice and they said they couldn't... no big deal so i got the fried rice and ordered a side of lo mein. The lady even called me back to confirm what garlic shrimp I wanted and I repeated NO vegetables. Got home and immediately opened the shrimp. It was LOADED with vegetables and it tasted like feet. I dumped it into my container to see if i could just pick out the shrimp... but even the shrimp tasted like feet. Idk what that sauce was but it was NOT garlic. I couldn't eat it. I got only 1 order fried rice (should've gotten 3) which was extremely dry, the fried pot stickers were okay but they were falling apart and soggy, the lo mein was also dry, the orange chicken was honestly the only good thing. I called the restaurant and she wanted me to drive 20 min back to the restaurant (40 min drive total) and give her back the food. Nope. I'm not wasting gas with these gas prices to prove to them that they messed up. Will not order from them again. While taking these photos the shrimp honestly made me gag from the smell. So gross. If I could give them a zero star I would.***update. Someone else called me back and was REALLY nice. He offered me an in-store credit for the poor food and experience so I raised my rating to a 2. However, I still probably won't go back.

My husband took me out to lunch there last week. Although busy, we were seated right away. Their lunch menu was delicious and plentiful. You must have the hot & sour soup - yummy!!

Got there a little late but we got in. Only open for dine in from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Service was excellent, food was excellent. Waitress didn't try to rush us out to close the dining room. Only problem was we were never asked what we wanted to drink. We got a glass of water and that was it. Be sure and let the server know if you want something else.

Rapid City has quite a few oriental restaurants, Golden Phoenix is the one I consider to be the best. Very good selection on the menu and the food is always great. Prices are reasonable and the wait staff is always courteous and efficient.

The Sesame chicken is always good.

6/2022 The Golden Phoenix is available for dine in from 11am till 3pm. We were seated immediately upon arrival. Five of us each ordered something different from the lunch menu as well as pot stickers for an appitizer. I had a wonderful bowl of egg drop soup, cashew chicken with fried rice, egg roll and wonton. The food was very good and each lady exclaimed how tasty their selections had been. The service was excellent with our server checking on us often. Unfortunately their supply of tea was not available but that was minor compared to the excellent meal we had. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

My sweet and sour chicken was dry, over-cooked. I only finished half of it. My two dining companions didn't finish either. Service is good, which helps. I hope to get a better meal there in the future

All I gotta say is hopefully its better in another day never had fried rice with fried chicken in it..

My favorite Chinese place that I've ever ate. And I've tried them all. Don't buy into the Karen's leaving the bad reviews. I go here so often, I've never had a singular bad experience. Food is always hot and delicious. Good servings. Friendly staff. One has to wait in line to pick up their food as dining is closed, which is a good sign. Everybody can't wait to get their Golden Phoenix fix. I could eat their General Tso's chicken + fried rice every day the rest of my life & it'll never get old.

I have had takeout a couple of times and had mixed reviews. Duck, sweet & sour pork both very good; poo-poo platter great value; Schezwan beef and lemon chicken from last time were underwhelming (the latter was a whole breast, unlike sweet & sour, Orange, sesame, etc. -- barely breaded, flavorless; would not recommend to anyone).Wish they would open for dine in. Even liberal states are green-lighting a return to normal. But this place is still quite busy. I take that as an indicator it is preferred over the competition.
