Food good as usual. Just had an issue with being charged twice because there computer was down and didn't get my online order. Now I'm getting the run around on getting my refund. Banana pudding need more cookies too. I've had better from there before.
Old School experience from beginning to end. Enjoyed it. This location is in an old fashioned car hop style restaurant, but it's a dine in restaurant. Order at the counter and a server will bring it to your table. Typical bbq fare in a sandwich, plate, or by the pound. Turkey was delicious. Pulled pork was tasty. The green beans and collards were piping hot. Maurice's sauces and rubs are available for purchase. It's obvious why Maurice's has been around since the 30s.
Very friendly staff. The turkey was very moist and tender. Ribs fall off the bones. The bark on the brisket was a bit tough but personal preference.
I used to enjoy BBQ and hash from Piggy Park when I was a child visiting my grandparents back in the 70"s. This year I decided to order the same dishes to be delivered to my home in Virginia for Father's Day.During shipping, several of the 1lb pound containers broke. I emailed Piggy Park the same day with photos. The very next day, I received a return email. The email advised I would be getting replacement shipment in time for Father's Day. I am so impressed by the customer service and quick response. The food was every bit as good as I remembered. 5 stars for this business. Thank you
Did you change your hash? We love Maruice's BBQ and the hash is the only hash I like but the last two times we've been I think the hash is different. Consistency and taste. Please bring back the old hash. Please. It is getting too pricy though. I know prices are going up everywhere, but Maurice's is way up. But we'll keep coming as long as we can afford it.
So disappointed. Grew up on good southern bbq like maurice. The tiny amount of sauce provided was ridiculous.. good thing I asked for extra.. which still was barely enough. I ordered the family deal. The hash was crazy greasy and too porky - it tasted unfinished... the rice was undercooked. The meat actually had a yellow tint.. appearing to have already been sauced which seemed like left overs. The meat was the same size as the sauce. The wait after a call in was stupid long. A total disaster
Equivalent of fast food. Some sides were good. Servings of the okra were ginormous. Meat was fine and the serving size was good, but this isn't some high end BBQ. Just average and quick. Folks were nice though. Would I go back? No. But I just prefer something different. This was quick and easy and good portions. I did appreciate that overall.
We carried out on our way out of town. Got some ribs and a pulled pork sandwiche. The sandwich was moist with very subtle smoke. The Carolina mustard sauce was fantastic. Sandwich was a little small but definitely tasty. Ribs were just okay but that sauce saved the day!
My husband and I ate there today around about 2:00 or 2:30. It was the worst. We walked in to order and the guy taking our was laying in the countertop. While he continued to lay there he rolled his eyes up at us and said what can I get for you. My husband told him what we wanted. He fixed our drinks which were supposed to be cokes. He brought the drinks to the table and the color of the drink was a very light beige in color. He had to see the color when he put the lids on the cups. While he went to check on something another employee came to help and I ask could we could have sweet tea instead and she fixed it. The fries were burnt . The cole slaw was out of date and why when you order BBQ do people think they need to put sauce on it. If it’s cooked right and has a good smoked flavor it shouldn’t need sauce. We will not be back.
This restaurant is using the excuse of not having employees to open their dining room after 5:00 pm. I find this unacceptable! Plenty of restaurants have managed to entice employees to serve dine-in patrons after 5:00pm! That’s called good management! And many of us patrons tip our servers VERY well! I’d like to recommend that Maurice’s stop using this excuse - if you are only going to serve patrons as a drive-through restaurant, kindly discontinue advertising that your dining room in open.
