Well you have to set your expectations somewhat on the lower side cause it's home cooking for the most part and a little southern country not that its a bad thing. I will write this review on the buffet and the recent lunch. First of all the service is pretty good here. Very attentive servers. The buffet is pretty small with a limited salad bar and maybe a dozen hot foods. The fried chicken is great. The fried catfish is good too. They had a small tray of ribs which they switched out with pulled pork and both were ok. Popcorn shrimp is also on lunch buffet and is decent. They also have a few desert items and one not to miss is the bread pudding. Trust me. Doesn't look great...but tastes so good!
We used to love Shoney’s. They had great food and was very nice and a great atmosphere. Went through the drive-through to get to take out plates. All my sides for the plates were so hot spicy you couldn’t even eat them. I think whoever cooked them dumped a whole can of Black pepper in the food. And the chicken tenders were over cooked. They were so hard you couldn’t eat them. Had to throw both dinners away. So I called the manager and he was very nice and apologized and he offered to replace both meals. I said I would go the next day because I was too tired to go out the same day. So I went back through the drive-through they were very nice and so I got something different but got the same sides, so I said I’ll try it again. So the sides were great except one the cabbage was the same cabbage from the day before it was so hot and spicy you couldn’t even eat it. But the rest was pretty good. It will be a while before I go back if ever.
I will never eat at this Shoney’s in Sumter again. The time was 11:45 am. One of the employees working the bar was clearly not happy with her life or job. Terrible look on her face the entire time. I ask for bacon bit for the salad and was told by her (do you see any, well that’s your answer)rude!! Also twice chicken was put on the bar and she grab all the wings and legs put them on a plate and went to the back. The overall temp of the hot food was cold even thou the steam table was streaming. The salad used from the day before as it has different in the containers. Food was really bad and this was my Worst experience ever at any Shoney’s restaurant. I shared with a cashier what had happened and she said she would got gladly get a manager however it wouldn’t have changed what had happened.
Sit where you want . Hostess says. But no waitress shows up for 15 minutes. And not again untill I flag one down so I could go. I know you get what you pay for. But this was horrible service. Friendly staff. But clearly not enough of them.
Excellent food and service. My husband got lost coming from the bathroom, due to Dementia. Your staff was absolutely wonderful assisting him with sincere compassion and kindness. Thanks immensely.
Great place to eat food was excellent, staff is short handed but did not interfere with our service.

The hostesses are always super sweet and my order is always ready when I get there to pick up. One place I'm always pleased to Doordash for.
Not sure what has happened to this place. Ordered spaghetti. Tasted like canned spaghetti, heated up in the microwave. Use to be so good. My last time going there. Everyone said oh it has changed. Thinking for the better. Guess not
Came for breakfast ON Christmas morning, food bar was filled, food was hot, service was friendly. Thank you to everyone who worked today ?♥️
