So we were greeted upon entering the restaurant. We frequent this place or so we used to. We decided to go to the non hibachi side today. Our server Ms Ginger was very kind and pleasant. The menu prices have drastically increased since our last visit 8 months ago. We had no wait to be seated and minimal wait for the food. Refills were not as punctual as you might expect though. Restaurant capacity on the non hibachi side was maybe 15%. 2 servers working. We have nothing at all bad to say towards the server. She was on point, always smiling, made the pleasant conversation you would expect. BUT. The tables were very sticky, the floor was sticky and my shoes talked to me. We did get a high chair for our 10 month old. It was sticky as well. The taste of the food was not what we used to get from this place. I hate to say it but the food from the Northwoods mall was larger portioned and better taste for half the price. 2 drinks 2 adult dishes and 1 kids dish was still $88. In previous settings of this restaurant this would have been acceptable but no longer. Portion size has decreased substantially and the flavor is not the same. If this message to the managers/owners is not taken seriously. This place may be on the verge of closing. It will take a serious revamp of this location if it is to succeed. Prices have increased at this place 2xs in the past year. The only explanation from this perspective would be lack of business and an attempt to recover revenue. I regret to say this will probably be my last visit to this place. It pains me to say again in all seriousness the Japan food from the mall at this point is much more pleasant.
(On a scale of 3 being average and 5 being amazing) We had such a fun time the atmosphere was fun, the wait staff was attentive and friendly, everything cooked fresh from the grill was delicious. Our chef was entertaining and engaging. Strictly personal preference, I did not care for bacon and eggs (standard) in the fried rice, in my my opinion these flavors overpowered the grill flavor. If it we weren't for the bacon and the eggs and that our batch of rice was pretty under cooked (from the kitchen - I am sure this was a 1 off but still diminished the meal) I would have scored higher.
Little bit of a wait time but total worth it!Our Chief was amazing! He was so entertaining and the food was so delicious!! The hostess was polite and the servers were on the ball and very nice. I just wish we lived closer because we would definitely come back regularly!!Thank you everyone that was there tonight! 2/23/22
Food was amazing, chef and server were great. However, for the amount charged on the food should reflect inside the building. Why is the carpet dingey and nasty and the chairs are splitting open and cracking. 5 star food in a 3 star building.
The only two things I can say were positive about the evening were the drinks while we sat at the bar and the waitress that served us due to her friendliness. Other than that, there was absolutely nothing good about the establishment or the food. The fried stuffed shrimp was a recommendation from the server and it was gross, had to drench the food with the dipping sauce to make it edible. We ordered the shumai steamed, and it came out almost refrigerator cold. I sent the food back and a replacement dish came out but it was not really hot either. This is just not a good look. Two chances to produce the correct food and both were misses. Not sure how you chalk this up to anything but a food service failure. As far as the entrees go, I ordered 1 speciality roll and one regular roll, both were horribly sub par as far as sushi standards go. Not sure if this is all typical of the area, but you would get laughed out of downtown for anything close to this quality. My wife decided not to risk possibly getting sick with the sushi after the appetizer failures and chose the filet minion hibachi dinner, steak was actually cooked to requested temp but had no flavor other than being ruined by oversalting from the kitchen. The meals were eaten out of desperation since we waited almost an hour for our seats and were starving, the food was not eaten out of desire. Would never come back. It's a party scene for the lower expectations groups nothing more.
Amazing service from Zoë! The food was absolutely delicious. I know their prices are terrifying but, it’s worth it!!!! The North Charleston location has nothing on this one. Extra 30 min drive for us but totally worth it. Zoë, thank you for making dawns 16th birthday easier and not stressful for Jesse and I! You’re awesome!
We love this place. Often we will have only sushi & their excellent rolls for dinner. Other times we'll have a Hibachi dinner. The wait for a Hibachi table can seem long, but it is worth it for the company & the show. The food is first rate, always.
Went for the hibachi. The food was great and the cook was amazing so funny. The server was new so she wasn't the best but she did ok. She took forever with the drink and took forever to come back to check on us.
This was a one and done for us. We’ve eaten at many restaurants like Yokoso and always have a great time and enjoy the food. We took our son for his birthday this weekend and and sadly, this was not a good experience. We were seated fairly quickly, but once at our table the server and the chef took forever to arrive. The food only had one flavor: salt. It was so bad that we didn’t even ask for to-go boxes for our leftovers. The overall cooking experience was pretty bad, too. Two of the chefs at nearby grills were loudly saying to their tables, “this place sucks!” and “if you don’t make the food you don’t get to correct the chef!” I get that this may have been part of their “act” but it was uncomfortable and not the type of family experience we were hoping for, and no one was laughing at them, either. Last but not least, a group of servers were huddled behind me complaining about someone. The whole experience felt uncomfortable and unprofessional, and considering we paid over $100 for 3 meals and 3 drinks, it was really disappointing and not worth the price at all.
What a fun and yummy experience!!! Brittney was awesome. The sushi was great and steak and shrimp was great! We will be back!
