Great place for fish and chips and more… we had fish and chips, sausage, curry chicken pot pie and mushy peas. With soft drinks and a few beers from the bar. You order through a line and they bring your food to your table. Food is delivered in rolled up white paper. Great bar with some beer specials. Staff is southern friendly and efficient. Dining in the dining room, bar or outside.
First time visiting and the food was really good. The bar manager was super friendly. There are two sides to this place. The food side, has the feel of fast food and the bar side where an attempt was made to make it feel like an English pub. The 1/2 order of fish and chips was 1 decent size piece of cod and nicely golden brown fries. Nothing was salted but salt is on the table so you can salt to your liking. The tarter sauce was really good. They also have meat pies and other goodies on the menu. See the pics. Happy house is all day on Friday. Will come again and try a meat pie.
I went here this evening to try it out with my father. First off, I’d like to say the fish and fries were perfectly done - so the food was great!Anyway, so we walk in to what appears to be chaos, people standing in front of the door, we asked if they were waiting to get a seat and they said pickup order…so we walked into the “dining room” (sorry, not sure what to call it - it was the room where the bar was not at) assuming there might be somebody there to seat us or give us a menu…nope. So we sat down on a whim wondering if somebody was going to show up or what. About 5 minutes later my dad decided to ask an employee who was bringing out an order to somebody else and she told him sit wherever and order at the bar. Clearly, it works and we must be out of the loop…but I would think there would be a sign or something at the door. From there on after, it was great. The bartender was awesome, super helpful (don’t know her name, but she was working Friday night 13 MAY). Now that we know how it works it’ll be way less aggravating.Regarding the chips, great texture and flavor.Fish; could not have been done any better. Hot, flaky, large and light; with just the right amount of grease. I also loved that it was not salty and had a great taste without any additions Tartar sauce took a minute but then it grew on me. Great job overall.
I've always had a great experience with great tasting fish and chips at the Spruill Ave location and that remains the same at Nexton in Summerville.
First time trying this place and it was awesome! The fish and chips were way better than I've had anywhere else and the portion was a nice surprise! The bartender was very good and always kept my glass topped off. Definitely will be back!
The best fish and chips around!!! You will not be disappointed. The fish is huge. We have been there in the last few weeks five times. One time we got our food and the waiter said that one of the fish was not big enough for their standards so they brought us another one on top of the ones we had. Made us a loyal customer from then on.
Love this place! So glad they opened up a new one in Nexton. We used to go to their North Charleston restaurant, but this one's a lot closer. The fish & chips are so delicious! I think it's better than others because not only is the fish good, but the batter they use makes it light & crispy. My kids don't really like fish, but they enjoy the fish & chips here. The Meat & Potato Pie is good, as is the Breakfast Pie. The sweet tea is excellent (at least it was all three times we've visited, so far)! Great staff -- helpful, polite & attentive. No table service, but staff still takes the time to go around the restaurant to ask if costumers need anything.
Love the new location. Fish and chips was amazing as usual. Simple food done right!
Love the original location, checked out the new location- same amazing food and bar! best fish and chips anywhere. Meat pie also excellent. This location is a bit bigger inside. We went about 7p on a Friday and parking was a challenge- lots of restaurants in that plaza. When we left there were a lot of spots- so would recommend coming at a non-peak hour if you can.
Finally made it out to The Cod Father’s new location in Summerville. I’ll let the photos do the talking but we ordered Fish & Chips, a Steak & Ale Pie and 2 Sausage Rolls.Wow, bloody wow !!!
