SMH! $20 and the only item on the plate that was good was the baked beans.
I've been trying to get here for a year. The hours are strange, but I finally made it.This is the first BBQ place I've been to that has a drive through. That was a total surprise.The service was great and fast. The food good too!It must be because there was a line at the drive through.
We loved everything we ordered. The bbq pork was tender and delicious. Both the hickory bbq sauce and the original Carolina sauce were so good. The collard greens were amazingly fresh and so tasty as well as the hash over rice. Everything was so well done! The portions were large and it was a great value!
C: It's hard to get a gauge on the quality of the meat some it was covered in some pretty unflattering sauce. And on top of that the plate was only 20% meat.C: Nothing stood out about how the meat was cooked, nothing good or bad. It was fine.B: I'd tentatively give the BBQ sauce a decent grade here.D-: The sides are all very sweet, it would have been nice to see more variety here, but I'll be giving tgis place another visit to confirm.This place wasn't bad as a restaurant in general but terrible as a BBQ restaurant specifically. If you wanted American cuisine then it's actually perfectly fine, but if you want BBQ I'd go elsewhere.
Great food, good service, local business and the bbq is delicious. My wife loves the catfish too. Highly recommend.Parking: Always enjoy going to Bessinger's. Keep up the good work!
I was really pleasantly surprised. I went with my husband who had been before and really was not expecting to enjoy this much as I did. I had the big Joe platter. It came with one rib pulled pork rice and hash coleslaw and a roll. I thought the rib would just be a scrawny little piece of meat but it was one rib very meaty and delicious. The roll was so soft and buttery and tasted so good with the pulled pork and coleslaw on it. I am not a huge coleslaw fan but I have to say there's was good it was not swimming and mayonnaise and it was served cold which I find way more appetizing than room temperature. I thought the portions were hefty. In fact, I had more pulled pork than I could eat and shared it with my husband and still had some leftover. I thought the price was good. It was 12:50 for the big Joe platter. I will look forward to going back there again. The Google search says that they close at 9:00 p.m. but the dining in closes at 8:00 p.m. and the drive-thru closes at 9:00 p.m. just FYI.
Nothing like ordering a Big Joe basket and a little Joe basket and having to wait 22 minutes to get your food. Then to have the young lady come out apologize for the wait and she's looking around saying it like it's a cliche and she really didn't give a crud. They have a good sandwich and definitely some of the best onion rings around but their level of customer service really sucked this day. You figure for twenty bucks you could at least get the food out in a timely manner.
Hands down the best barbeque! This is about the only place I’ll eat hash and rice from too. My kid hates onions, but even he loves their onion rings. Huge portions in all of their meals!
Cashier very friendly…not her fault. Had lunch there and knew when I was eating the food that something wasn’t right. I became nauseous about 2 hours later and have not slept all night due to stomach ‘problems’!This food was just not good. I eat bbq all over the states, from Texas to Maryland and everywhere in between, this was the worst. The pork rib was (maybe) boiled, still had the membrane and oozing with grease/fat. The pulled pork was mushy, which I still can’t figure out, but should not have eaten it, and the beans were room temp. The ‘bbq’ sauce was a mustard base and pumped out of a dispenser. It was not good and nothing like any bbq I’ve ever put in my mouth. I’m not sure how they cook their meats, but I don’t think they’re smoked, like most bbq places. This food was not good! My review is harsh because I am literally sick and writing this at 5am because yesterday evening and all night has been awful!
I have been going to bessinger's for over 30 years. I have never had a complaint and never had any issues with any of the staff. The barbecue is excellent, as a matter of fact everything they have is excellent. The food is always fresh, always tasteful, and the staff is always a pleasure to be around. I will continue to go to bessinger's as long as the doors are open. I will not go to any other barbecue place as long as bessinger's is around. I've tried other barbecue places and nobody has ever come close to bessinger's. The only thing I really would like to see different is when you got BBQ, they would give you a small cup of barbecue sauce on the side, without asking. Other than that best damn barbecue around. Oh and the mustard-based BBQ sauce is out of this world. That is the only one my wife and I get.
