Just off 26 and perfect to stop and grab a sandwich before getting to Charleston!! Can not wait to come back. Excellent sandwiches. The Cuban, Gyro, and Turkey and cheese were all enjoyed by adults and kids!!!
We are from NC and are here for work. This is the best food I have had in Summerville!! I highly recommend!! The gyro, potato salad, and baklava are AMAZING!
Derek’s was good, but I kind of expected to have my socks knocked off since it had 4.9 stars at the time of this review. Don’t get me wrong, it was a good turkey and Swiss on sourdough, but it wasn’t quite worth writing home about. I would come again if I was in the area and wanted a fresh bite, but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way
We stopped there today for the first time. The first thing we noticed was how nice they are. So refreshing. They had really good food for the whole family (I have picky toddlers). Sandwiches are well made and delicious. Hubby said its one of the best Ruben Sandwiches he has had. Will be seeing them again.
The absolute best lunch spot in the Charleston area. Everyone is so kind, their customer service is second to none, and their sandwiches are stellar. I can’t recommend highly enough
The food here is just so good and fresh! I will go here before I go to any other sandwich shop. The staff are always so very friendly and accommodating! I always try to find an excuse to pass by this place during lunch just so I can get some of there amazing food! Lovely place and awesome food!
They not only have produce, they have beautiful hanging baskets, and other plants. Inside the store they sell the pounds of Amish butter at a reasonable price and this is where I love to get my ham hocks. Once you see the ham hocks you will know why. They are huge you only need one to season a large pot of beans, greens, or soup.
Love this place - best gyro in Summerville! Reuben is delicious too! Coleslaw is unique and our favorite side dish. The lovely couple who own this place are super sweet and friendly. Always a great experience! Conveniently located in the Coastal Produce stand - love stopping by to pick up some staples while waiting on my order @ Derek's.

I just finished a Gyro from Derek’s. Not my first Gyro from Derek as I had one once before. If there is a better Gyro anywhere, it would have to be in Turkey or Greece. Hands down the best Gyro this side of the Atlantic Ocean and in all places, beautiful little Summerville, home of Sweet Tea. I have also tried Derek Cuban Sandwich. Again a winner. I love Cubans and this was terrific! Next time I go I have a decision to make, Gyro or Cuban. He offers other options but I can’t pass up these two. Both delicious and generous size. BTW excellent veggie soup comes with your sandwich or Gyro.Quick updateI finally decided to pass on my routine of ordering either a gyro or Cuban on my last visit to Derek for lunch. I ordered the Pastrami Ruben. Yikes! Coming from NYC the best pastrami in the world is Katz Deli located on the lower east side. Derek pastrami Ruben was delicious. No, does not beat Katz but certainly worth honorable mention. Derek, a small hole in the wall lunch joint located in Summerville is a slice of heaven.
