We love coastal. Excellent coffee, and delicious pastries and sandwiches. The chef is so talented. Everyday there is something special. They have items displayed from local vendors. They source ingredients locally. You can buy milk and eggs from a local farm. They have lots of indoor seating, as well as tables in the front and back. Our favorite weekend breakfast place and our pup always gets a pup cup and love!
Maybe I just caught them on a bad day? I arrived on a Saturday about 30 minutes before closing. I placed an order for two Cafe Mocha's, telling the barista that this was my first visit to Coastal. He didn't seem to care about that, nor did he seem at all enthusiastic to fulfill my order. He saw (I hope?) where I was standing, patiently waiting for my order, but instead of telling me, "Here you go," or pointing out to me where I could pick it up, he placed my coffee at the other end of the bar, behind the equipment where I couldn't see it. Didn't say a word to me about it. The coffee was fine but not worth the price I paid ($13.00 with a generous tip). It's worth it to pay a bit extra to support a small, local business, but I expect something in return. Better or competitive product, and better, more personal service. And though it's not the owner's fault, there was a creepy vibe in the place, kind of like the local clubhouse that isn't welcoming of newcomers. I got some "looks" from the clientele that made me feel like I didn't belong there. My biggest issue with Coastal, though, is that it isn't open at a time that's convenient to me. It closes at 1400 during the week, which doesn't work when I get to work most mornings at 0530. You're only open on Saturdays until 1700 and closed on Sundays. Yeah, I know, times are changing, but you still need to service your customers.I am, however, willing to be fair and give them another chance. First impressions are powerful but not always accurate. I really hope my next visit will have better news. If not, well, there are other options.
Excellent coffee and latte, fabulous scones and muffins, very friendly baristas, good menu for vegetarians and meat-eaters as well
Friendly customer service. Excellent coffee. Veteran owned. Supportive of local owned businesses. Tasty snacks and sandwiches available. Outdoor seating. My in-laws visit twice a year from Upstate NY and this is their morning coffee shop routine ❤️
This coffee shop was hit or miss for us. The first day we went it was really good. The brewed, drip coffee is good and we had the carrot muffin, which was delicious. The second day the baked goods weren’t as good. I had a blueberry scone, which was okay. My husband got a bagel, which the barista was supposed to bring out, but it sat in the toaster getting cold instead. The biggest shock was that two pastries and a small drip coffee came to over $15. In the afternoon I went for a latte only to learn the only choice for cow’s milk was whole milk. The other five choices were plant based. I’m hoping the oat-rice-almond-soy-coconut milk phase ends soon so coffee shops can offer a couple of choices of cow’s milk again.
Nice coffee shop to get my beans. They will make up some pretty tadty blends. Coastal coffee roasters best coffee! Buy local and save better than the rest.

Stopped in with my daughter for some coffee. Service was good and drinks delicious. Dine in area has been expanded and is more inviting. Will be back again.
Great little bakery and coffee shop. Friendly staff, cute decor, relaxing atmosphere. The locals sent me their direction when I needed good coffee, so I’ve come back a few times and never been disappointed. I am a dark chocolate lover, so I wish they had dark chocolate for their mocha, but it was still some of the best coffee I have found in Summerville.
Always great coffee, but do have teas etc. Great scones and baked goods, breakfast sandwiches and more. All from wholesome ingredients! Friendly and helpful staff too.
