The service was friendly and fast. The food was really good...bbq pork, collards, Mac n cheese, slaw. Haven't tried anything else yet, but looking forward to the tomato pie and chocolate bourbon pecan pie. The family meal deal is worth it, but not 5 stars bc the price of the pies and individual items. Had the food to go, but the place is charming with an antique vibe.
I finally made it to Bakers after driving by it at completely the wrong times. Their only hours are Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. I'm so glad that I finally was able to give it a try, the food is very good. I ordered some brisket and meatloaf with a side of macaroni and cheese. The portions were very generous and the quality of the barbecue was A+. I highly recommend that you give it a try.
The food was amazing and the staff were wonderful. The sweet potatoes were the best. Also had Mac-n-cheese and it was super yummy. The brisket and pulled pork were both very good (tasty and juicy). My friend had the meatloaf and baked beans and said they were really good as well. We didn’t realize there was also indoor seating so we sat in the garden area. Would have been fine except it was 54 degrees! We didn’t realize there was seating inside and staff didn’t mention it. They’re very busy, but maybe a “here’s your change; you can sit inside or outside” would be helpful for out of town guests.
I’ve always heard about this place so I decided to give it a shot today after I picked Cooper up. I dig it! I appreciate the various barbecue joints in the Tri-County area because each one of them has their own style and each one offers something that I love. Cooper’s barbecue sandwich was huge! The meatloaf was soft and flavorful. The red rice was different than what I have had but I enjoyed it and the baked beans had a hint of sweetness to them. They had mustard, vinegar-based and a red sweet barbecue sauce. I really liked the red sweet sauce. The mustard was good and the vinegar didn’t punch me in the throat too bad. The guys in the kitchen also hooked me up with a little sampling of brisket. Again, completely different than anything I’ve ever had but very flavorful and delicious. They are only open three days a week I believe so go check them out! Nap time ????
Pulled in with 10 minutes to spare before closing time needing to feed a crew of seven guys that were out working in the elements taking care of a tree on a house for me. All the workers at Baker’s barbecue pulled together for me everything they had left remaining to give my guys a much welcomed and deserved hot spread when they got done for the evening on a 27° night. They helped me package everything carry it and load it all up in the car and the food is absolutely amazing. The barbecue pie is unlike anything they had ever tasted before and they have new fans for life! Just a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend bakers to anyone wanting barbecue Thursday, Friday or Saturday from 11 AM to 7 PM right off Central Avenue in Somerville.
The food and service are both 5 stars all the way around. The selection, quantity and quality of food were top notch! We’ll be back soon!
This restaurant is housed in a nursery/antique shop. You place your order at the counter and pick it up. Portions are generous. We went for Thursday rib night and had a half a rack 6-7 large ribs. We ordered three sides: mac and cheese, baked beans (very good) and red rice and sausage. Everything was good. One question I have is how do you advertise barbecue but charge extra for barbecue sauce?
Have gone to Bakers BBQ many times. The family meal is a great value! The Friday Brisket is unbelievable! Recommend Bakers to anyone wanting great home-cooking BbBQ & deserts’???
Been wanting to try this place for ages. Picked up a family brisket meal that definitely didn’t disappoint! We had to pick it up earlier before they ran out and reheated. So amazingly good!!! The bourbon pecan pie is absolutely amazing too!
My husband and I stopped to look at the nursery on a day they are serving BBQ….Needless to say the smells of food immediately caught our attention. The food is Absolutely hands down the best BBQ we have had in the Lowcountry! We WILL be Back! If you are looking for a small town feel with outstanding service and food, this is the place to go!! Very large portion with prices that don’t break the bank! We would have posted pics of the food but… we couldn’t help ourselves??
