If you’re vegetarian do not skip this spot in your search for local food. The owner/chef is extremely passionate about Japanese food and loves to create new dishes in command. He stands there and makes everything in front of you. The food was fantastic. The building leaves much to be desired. But I always say the BEST and most authentic foods come from the least likely of places and this surely proves my point. Sit at the bar. Talk with chef/owner and find out for yourself what an incredible spot this is.
It’s always a good sign when you hear the restaurant staff greeting regulars. The food was excellent, and the service was unmatched. I will definitely be coming here again!
Delicious! We have lived here 3.5 years and didn't know about this spot. Our appetizers were edamame and chicken kyoto, both fantastic! I don't remember the rolls we had (John and Rainbow maybe?). They were both so good!!! The flavors of the sauces were yummy. Lots of fresh fish, just enough rice and well rolled.
Been coming here for over 10 years. Food is always great. It does come out at different times because the staff is small but you won't find fresher sushi in the state guaranteed.
This is a hole-in-a-wall kinda sushi place.Out of sight and not fancy inside, but the man making the sushi really knows what he’s doing! We orders 4 different types of sushi and they were all flavorful and delicious.The ginger was not so good.Try the Dragon Roll!
Hands down! The absolute best sushi I have had the pleasure of experiencing! The owner and chef was extremely knowledgeable and very eager to explain any questions I had! Zoë was our server and was a delight to have help our dining experience.
Such a wonderful place to eat. The food is so fresh and well prepared. Even the tea is fresh.The restaurant is spotless and cozy. The folks running it are sweet and engaging. If you want the real deal, get it here. Pass on those franchise sushi mills
Best sushi in Spartanburg! Katsu takes extreme pride in his food and it shows in both the quality and flavor of his ingredients. We have been coming to Wasabi for years and have never been disappointed. Highly recommend!
I will not eat sushi anywhere else. The owner and talented chef is Katsu. His lovely family provides outstanding service. Katsu provides inspired, original (or traditional if that's your preference) sushi dishes that are absolutely amazing. All his homeade sauces are top notch, especially the handmade, aged for a year spicy soy. He sources only the best, freshest product from all over the country (and the world). I was just blown away by a BLUEFIN tuna roll. Yes. Real bluefin. It melts in your mouth. And the plate of Saba Tataki was eye opening. A combination of flavors I wouldn't think possible with sushi. The best part is the prices. Sushi restaurants of this quality are usually out to rob you blind. Not Wasabi. Get over here for your next dinner out. Chat up Katsu and tell him to surprise you. I promise, he will.
The dragon roll is so cute, the miso soup as well as the dumplings were great as well.
