I sat at the counter as I stopped off the Hwy on a long road trip. Never been here before and Carol advised me on the menu. BBQ Slaw was great and the smoked meats were so flavorful that they didn't need any sauce. If you're on I-85, put this place in the GPS and grab some great BBQ even if you aren't hungry!
As always I requested a recommendation and my waitress was an absolute doll. Gave great recommendations, and the food came out hot, fresh and fast. Absolutely would come again.Highly recommend the potato salad and hush puppies, and chopped bbq plate!
Chopped pork and hushpuppies were ok, but the cole slaw looked old and wilted. I'll try the beans next time.
The people and food are awesome. Friendly smiles and service make you smile back. The BBQ is smokey and juicy, the way you like it. They keep your glass full through your meal. It's a gotta stop place when you are on I85.
I just paid the order without eating. I don't know what these 5 stars are about.
The hush puppies are amazing, I decided on the half rack of ribs, beans, potato salad and hush puppies. I normally like Texas style BBQ, but this place is on point. The ribs were amazing and juicy, perfect balance of sweet and savory. Classic potato salad and beans were really good with the ribs. The staff was very friendly and quick to refill my sweet tea as I was waiting for my food. Well done Southern BBQ!
Fast service at lunch time. Friendly waitress. Great food, fair priced
This is a classic Carolina barbeque spot. The pork barbeque sandwich is finely chopped, slightly moist, free of excess fat, has enough meat for two sandwiches, and is served without excess sauce. A vinegar barbeque slaw comes on the sandwiches, I ordered mine on the side and found it crunchy and tangy. Hush puppies are served hot, generous in portion and size, and free of onion, excess sugar or anything green or yellow adulterating the mix. The Brunswick stew is served even during the warm months (yes!), is tasty and full of veggies, though slightly sweet. My wife's order of ribs weren't too dry, had good meat on the bone and well seasoned; the fries were hot and barbeque beans were great. Two sauces are offered, one is thick, peppery and slightly sweet, the other is heavy on pepper in a thin vinegar base. I personally prefer more vinegar, but these two choices provide some heat and kick. The menu offers plenty of alternatives to barbeque as well. Service was from friendly young ladies and was attentive, the prices are very reasonable and decor consists of vintage stock car pictures, posters, and pistons. This place has everything a red blooded Carolina barbeque fan loves!
Always good. Banana pudding is best cold!
A quick pit stop turned into some of the best BBQ, beans, and potato salad I’ve ever had! Don’t waste your time with the multiple chain restaurants off the same exit - just head to Southern Barbecue and go home with a fully belly of fall off the bone deliciousness!
