We stopped by early morning for a breakfast on our road-trip. It’s a small cozy restaurant - and looked like a locals favorite. Most of the people knew each other. Fresh breakfast was served by friendly staff. The options are less, but everything tasted good.
we normally go to Staxx omega but since we moved to Spartanburg i wanted to find us a place out here, next time I’ll take the 45 min drive to Greenville.. My order was to go… i had the hash brown supreme and my husband has the shrimp and grits.. i was there soon as my order came up.. they need different containers for to go orders a 3 compartment doesn’t go good with either meals i had… neither meal was as described on the menu.. the shrimp and grits had 6 sad looking shrimp, chew bacon and some weird tasting brown sauce, the grits had no flavor you can tell the water didn’t have salt when they was being cooked and they wasn’t really hot… my hash browns was simply hash browns didn’t have a lot of cheese like the menu described.. the price was good but i would rather pay more for better quality…
Found the staff to be very unfriendly. They had us standing at the door for a while before someone said "find a seat", like we were bothering them. The waitress came over and when I ordered a burger, I said "just like it comes with everything". She said I had to tell her exactly what I wanted because she would only put on it what I told her. There was no mention of mayo and it was not listed on the menu but it was all over the burger. She came back once and grabbed my glass as she walked by, putting it back the same way, without a word. She never asked how the food was or if we needed anything the whole time. Just average food and unpleasant staff. Easy to find somewhere else where they care about the customers.
I've been going to The Skillet since I could walk.Every time I go I get blueberry pancakes sprinkled with powdered sugar, and in my younger years I requested they be made in "mickey mouse" shape, to which the cook so kindly agreed. We got to know a cook named Leroy who I always looked forward to seeing. When I was about 8, Leroy went to an adjacent drug store and got me toys on his break. He is one of the kindest fellows I have ever known.Leroy has seen me grow up and go through many different hair colors, a boyfriend or two, and still he seems so excited to catch up with me when I sit down to order.Every friend I've held close to me has been with me to The Skillet. It's become almost a right of passage. This place really is a landmark in my life. They serve the only coffee I've been able to drink black.I can't wait to come back for a breakfast or brunch when I visit from college. I know my blueberry pancakes will be waiting for me.
What can I say...best breakfast in town!! I love going here for the food, but also for the wonderful staff too! It feels like family when you go in! Yes, it gets crowded at times and you may have to wait...shows you how good it is!! People don't crowd bad places! And it is always worth the wait!
Food was good, waitress was good, and serve time was reasonable. Small but quaint. But like every thing else was pricey, yes i will go back.
A local favorite that is for sure. Especially for Sunday brunch. Food was served hot and the staff is experienced and friendly. When we arrived there was quite a queue which heightened our expectations of a unique culinary experience. we waited about 20 minutes as we needed a table for our party of 3. While the menu was creative and the food was prepared as ordered in the end it was fairly ordinary. It must be that there simply are not an abundance of choices for brunch in this area. I would certainly go again but if there was a long queue again I would seek to try other options.
Great food. I can't believe I've never been here before. The place was packed. Sat at the bar with strangers. If you don't like meeting new folks it's not for you. They do have tables. But it was just me.The menu is good size. Staff is friendly and efficient. The chicken and gravy was delicious. The pancakes look really good. This place is a must try!
The food was great. Service was great. It wasn't super fast, but they were crazy busy...which is the mark of a good restaurant. I will be going back. They will get my business again.
I sat at the counter and the place is always been jam-packed when I've gone in there and the service has been great and the food came out extremely fast which surprised me and the coffee was very good and I appreciate the Old Time Diner tried-and-true
