My wife and I went for our anniversary. Atmosphere was nice but we were seated at a table under a dripping ac vent (leaking on our table). The salad was decent. The steak had no seasoning at all. The best part of the meal was the bread and butter. Service was great. I would not recommend we could have had a far better and more flavorful steak for far half the price. Our dinner for 2 was around a little over $100.
Paying for ambiance and alcohol selection. Food menu, at the time, was verbal, so I got on my phone to see what they had...but 2 physical menus of wine! The food was fair portions and very tasty, but very pricey. Bread was a bit tough, but the tea was good. All in all, good food, high price, good tea
Walking in I was impressed by the bar, then the bar maid, then by their cocktail knowledge. Went upstairs to be polity seated by the hostess. She simply smiled and explained nothing more about what was to happen next which annoyed me but I hung in there without question or comment. Very soon, Alex the maitre de, appears asking about drinks. Hie skill and demeanor relaxed me and I relinquished control to him. I was not disappointed. His attention to needs and the experience of the evening we expertly handled. My oysters, salad, and bone in tenderloin were perfect. Through work, I have had the pleasure of dinning across the globe on a generous expense account. Peddlers was an amazing surprise to me nestled in the deep south. When I get back there I will have a hard time being talked into anywhere else. Two surprising thumbs up with zero reservations.
My wife and I ate there on 6/25, arriving at 4;30pm to have a drink so we could be seated early to make time for a movie later. The atmosphere is excellent. We were seated at 5:15pm...the French Onion soup was great, salads were on point. Then , an hour and 30min after being seat our entrée came. It was 40min after we finished our salads! By this time we were content....just boxed it up and left. When I asked about the timing of our meal, the server was rude and defensive. We didn't let it ruin our evening though. Very disappointed.
I visited Peddler Steak House for dinner on a Friday night without a reservation. I was quickly seated in the last available booth near the kitchen and adjacent from the restroom. I was disappointed to learn that they did not have the ingredients for my drink of choice (Arnold Palmer). I had to settle for something else to drink. I was even more disappointed by the lack of entrée options by the restaurant. I decided to order the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer, a Caesar salad, and the salmon with the wild rice as my entrée. All of my meal options were room temperature when I received them and were not very memorable. Due to being left saddened by the meals that I ordered I opted to have dessert elsewhere.
We were celebrating our Anniversary so we thought on a week night, we could get better service. We were seated promptly, the drinks were good, apps, salad and entree were all okay. What we were surprised about was the decor in the restaurant. It is pretty evident that it has been there for years and some updating is definitely needed. My girlfriend pointed out the water stains in the ceiling. We just expected a more upscale dining experience and were disappointed when we didn't get it. I don't think we'll be going back.
Worth every penny. Great food and even better service.
Once my all time favorite restaurant....I would recommend to everyone and had many parties and birthdays there.... now I would NEVER. Things went down hill after the move. The servers who were there for years, left, and now you'll see a new face every visit. The wait is forever. I'll never understand why they will not take reservations. It would make everyone so much happier. The appearance and attitudes of the servers used to be top notch, now not so much. Our latest smelled so badly of cigarettes. I don't mind smokers, but it was overwhelming. He was not the nicest either. The worst of it all, is the steak. What used to be the best in Spartanburg is now probably the worst. It is never cooked correctly. It's either rare or charred. Literally the only thing that brings me back, is the salad. That IS still the best in town. But as soon as I figure out how to copy it, we won't be back. Level 10 is only 1 block away, takes reservations, and has the class and taste of the old Peddler.
Excellent service, while there were a lot of guests waiting it still didn’t take long to be seated. Steak was excellent, lots of other non steak choices, great salad bar. Highly recommend if visiting Gatlinburg.
Went on a date with my girlfriend after moving to Spartanburg area and loved every moment of it! Located in a cute alley- I felt like I was walking in my hometown of Barcelona, Spain. Great service and very attentive to their customers but leave enough space to maintain a conversation and not left wondering where your server went. Candle lit dinner made for a romantic evening and great overall experience! Would definitely recommend and I will 100% be returning!
