We Love Gerhards! Food is amazing and the owners are so sweet!Unfortunately the last Four times we’ve been there (two with the same waitress) the experience has been less than enjoyable due to the staff. Bar tenders have always been friendly.Servers not so much. They don’t offer the specials anymore unless you ask, don’t ask if you have any questions, turn to leave while still dropping off food and drinks causing inability to get there attention, don’t check on the table after food arrives…. Basically no eye contact or contribution to communication.I told our server McKayla tonight while she cleared our plates, “I did not touch my side order”. Without asking if something was wrong she just took it, walked away and still charged. We noticed the entire meal she wasn’t attentive or around and when we left, found her sitting in the entrance way talking to the hosts. Suddenly made sense on how our service was.Disappointed. Maybe we’ll give it a few months and try again.
Gerhard's Cafe has been a bright spot on our road trips from home in Mississippi to visit our college daughter in North Carolina. The wife and I loved our three years stationed in Germany in the 90s. The excellence in food, beer, wine, and atmosphere allow us an authentic visit to the Europe of youth. Since our daughter has graduated, this brauhaus will now be a birthday destination. Prost!PS. Best apple strudel ever.

The food was absolutely delicious, but our server left little to be desired. We literally overheard her talking bad about us two tables down because we didn't eat a salad. It really threw us off and kind of marred the whole experience. We've both been servers and know that there's bad nights, but that was really uncalled for.
Simply Amazing!! I lived in Germany for 3 years and traveled to Austria many time. Right from the first bite I felt like I was back! By far the most authentic German/Austrian food I have tasted in the states! The Jagers schnitzel and Spitzel was absolutely DELICIOUS! the service was fantastic as well. We will be back!! I just moved to the area and we plan on being regulars.
Awesome atmosphere, great service, and even better food. It's a little pricey, but you definitely get what you pay for. Worth every penny!
I have been going here since I was a kid and it has always been a treat. I love the food and the way the restaurant looks. Swiss Veal is always better than I remember.
Had a great meal on Friday night. Grilled pork chop was perfect and so juicy. It was our waitress first night and she did a fantastic jobWill visit more often. Well worth the drive from Greenville
This place has been in Spartanburg for years. It's founder died in September but the place has NOT missed a beat. Still a great venue. Great staff and service AND food. Love the rustic atmosphere.
Amazing food! Our first time here and we had an awesome time. Our waitress was a sweetheart and even hooked us up with a tiny bowl of mashed potatoes for our baby boy. We will most definitely go back!
