Fabulous. That's the first word that came to mind when I started eating. The pulled pork plate with 2 sides is reasonably priced. There's so much food on the plate that you definitely get your money's worth. The meat is seasoned and moist and doesn't need sauce. I got a mustard based and a vinegar based sauce. I can't guarantee, but they have to look and taste to be made in house and we're exceptional. My sides were standard and a little different. Standard is the fries, but they weren't run off the mill crinkle cut fries and we're well seasoned. Different was the black eyed peas& collards. Not a fan of collards in the first place, but these were really really good. I can't wait to come back and try the ribs!!
A hole in the wall, nothing fancy and almost left for the plaza seemed rundown. But happy we stayed to give it a try. The staff was very friendly and was very clean.
Extremely disappointed with the pulled pork which was dry and crispy. Tasted like it was reheated as leftovers. The sauces were really strong. Mac and cheese was delicious as well and onion dip and chips. Collards and red slaw were way too strong with vinegar. Baked beans were tasteless. We did not finish our food…Staff was very friendly.
The meats are perfectly smoked to not be over powering or over cooked. They have a large assortment of homemade sauces that go well with the meats. And if you are looking for a after meal desert they have a delicious selection of homemade deserts from peanut butter pie to ice cream sundaes. The cost is on par with most barbecue restaurants. The service was personable and friendly. Overall a great place for a quick meal to a sit down with friends and family.
Local place with no frills. Friendly and effective wait staff. Reasonably priced. If I could give half-stars, I would say 3.5 rather than just 3. The big downer for me is that the BBQ wasn’t really good. I had the pulled pork and it was dry and tasted almost like it had been microwaved (if you know that flavor). That kills the rating for a BBQ place. Big portion sizes though. The sides were above average. I also tried dessert (pecan pie and peach dumplings). I would recommend either but favored the peach dumplings.
I have visited here several times and The French Dip is wonderful . My Husband really loves the BBQ . Great work staff and the atmosphere is great . We come now as often as we can !
Stopped while traveling based on Trip Advisor rating. The main dining is not very large but there is additional seating in a covered outdoor area. The decor is uninspiring but the service and food made up for it. Ordered pulled pork which was slightly dry but they generously brought all 5 of their sauces so we enjoyed trying all of them. The black eyed peas and collards were awesome. They have red or white coleslaw - we had the red since that was something different for us and it didn’t disappoint. Finished the meal with homemade peanut butter pie which was delicious. The prices were very reasonable and we would stop again if we are ever passing through.
What a FANTASTIC experience. Being from Chicago I was looking for authentic BBQ and WOW did I find it. The food was delicious, the waitress (Shannon) so friendly and pricing very reasonable. Shannon brought us large samples of all 5 "rubs" and described them in detail. I loved the brisket and the sides were so tasty. This is a MUST if you like BBQ.
food was great. service was good .beer was cold
Our family routinely orders take out from this place and it never fails us. Usually it's the BBQ that gets all the praise and we love it, but I really love the sides just as much. The beans and slaw, sometimes I like to get beans and greens. My only complaint is that they don't serve cornbread but that is ok, they make up for it everywhere else.
