My wife and I have been eating here for year and after our last experience yesterday we won’t ever again. We stopped in and weren’t really all that hungry so we decided to share a large jumbo shrimp plate and she would be getting a baked potato. The place comes with a salad from the salad bar. We were informed that since we were splitting a shrimp plat that we wouldn’t be allowed to get a salad from the salad bar. I asked would we be charged the same price for the meal because the salad comes with the meal and we were told yes. So we decided that we wouldn’t be dining there that evening. On the way out we asked to speak with the manager. The manager ( who turned out to be the owner) informed us that that was his policy and that by giving us the salad that came with the meal we were buying that one of us would be eating for free. He also informed us that that had been his policy for years at both of his locations. We left confused after his explanation. So if you choose to do business with Pier 51 you won’t always get what you pay for per the owner.
Our first time here and it was fantastic! Was shocked they had a salad bar. Thought they were a thing of the past. Fried oysters were great! Having a senior menu was also a plus. Will definitely be back.
Always friendly service, and good food. The salad bar is extremely well maintained with always fresh and all vegetables are washed and chopped in house. I recommend the grilled basa, as it's flavor is amazing and it's a healthy food choice! They're sweet tea is always on point!
Not their best day. They were super busy. Everyone was nice. Clean. Food came out quickly. Our server was not super attentive, but other servers checked on us throughout our meal, so it was ok. We never got hush puppies - asked twice. My steamed vegetables were cold. My scallops were fabulous. We were on a schedule, so I didn't complain. We will go back. Just hoping it's not the new normal.
Let me start off in the past this has been one of my favorite fish camps in the York County area but last week it was something off about it first t the cashier ,I want to say maybe is the owner’s wife but she had a nasty attitude with the waitress and host yes I understand sometimes it can be busy but people should know how to treat their employees,second one of the head cooks was the salad bar talking trash about customers to some creepy looking guy and then third I don’t know what kind of cheese is it on the potato.. But when I took it home to put it in the microwave it would not melt so I’m unsure what kind of cheese this is that they are serving people and the reason why I’m giving it to 2 stars ,because the waitress was pretty decent
Quintessential hometown serviceIt may not be much too look at out side or in, but the service is fast, the prices are fair and the portions mean you will have leftovers.Menu has something for everyone even if you don't like fish/ seafood. The hush puppies are delicious too.The staff was friendly and they recognized frequent customer as ifnthey were friends.Fettuccine Alfredo was a little bland but the chicken was well flavored.
The food was very good. Love the salad bar. You get a lot of food too.
The girls working at the drive-through window were very kind and good natured and it is very convenient to have a drive-through window. I ordered the calabash shrimp and fried oysters dinner that came with a baked potato, some hush puppies and a very small sample of coleslaw. The food was average, OK. There was just not much taste to the shrimp or the oysters. There was a lot of bread and the breading wasn't really seasoned, so I felt like I was eating a lot of flour. I will try it again at a later date and update my review. For $18.00 + the food should be better.
Hands down the best restaurant in town. I can’t believe how much they give you vs the price of the meal! Wow! And everyone is super friendly. The food are prepared just right, and the seafood is amazingly Fresh. I don’t think you will have a bad time here even if you tried. Also, you have to try the broiled scallops.
I like the variety on the menu, not everyone in the dining party is necessarily wanting seafood. The hamburger steak is very good. Great salad bar.
