I wanted to love this, but my experience was truly lackluster. The goat curry was mostly bones, tendons and fat. I think I might have had 4 good bites of meat for $18!! It was tasty however and the roti was on point. I will try again due to all of the rave reviews.
Our first time there and we were not disappointed. The stewed chicken was delicious and the plantains finished off the meal nicely! Husband got the cury goat and loved it, his first time eating goat. Customer service was unbeatable and they gave us samples to try since we were lost looking at the menu. You should definitely try this place!
I've been here a handful of times and the food is always excellent! I either get the curried goat or the oxtails, and the oxtails are probably my favorite! The meat is so tender it just melts in your mouth. The portions are always large and the oxtail is always meaty.
Took my step dad here for Father's Day today. Thought we would try something new. Glad to see Rock Hill has some variety in restaurants now. I love Caribbean jerk, so we got the chicken, size large, rice & beans. Lots of food, was very good. We decided we would try goat and oxtail for the first time... got small plates to go. We didn't care much for the goat but my bf loved it. Oxtail taste just like beef, was good. The gravy on the rice was good also. Just wish they had a choice of more vegetables as a side. Can be a little pricey but you do get a lot of food.
I have been to this restaurant 3 times and I haven't been disappointed once! Food is so good and fresh! My favorite is the oxtails and cabbage. On the left in the picture is the oxtails, yellow rice and collards. To the right is the stewed brown chicken and cabbage. We gave everything ????. If you like ginger please try the ginger lemonade. It's extra sweet to me, so I add water to it once I'm home but it is so good!!!
Ordered from here once and the food was good and plentiful even if they made a substitution without telling me. However, the 2nd time I ordered I had a completely different experience. I ordered online and had a friend stop to get the food I had already paid for. When he arrived at the specified time, he was told they were out of the entree I had ordered and was offered a substitute that was listed on the menu at half the price. He asked about a refund for the item and was told they'd have to have the card I paid with in order to do that. I didn't want to have to ask my friend to handle all this as he was already doing me a favor since I was working late and trying to get dinner for son and myself. I tried to call to talk to someone to ask if they'd throw in something to keep me from having to come there (as that was the entire intent of ordering online and asking someone to pick it up) and 3 times I was sent to voicemail. I drove all the way across town from my job to take care of this and then was told it would be another 30 to 45 minute wait for my food because they were so behind. Had to again go through the same issue to get a refund for the entire order. Total time from when I placed the order until I had to cancel was 2 hours and 27 minutes.
Solid, family run restaurant. I ordered boneless chicken curry, half a dozen wings, and mac and cheese and was satisfied with both the price and quality. Wings were made to order, hotter 'n hell and on point. Mac and cheese was good, but not standout. Boneless chicken curry was SOLID. The large (11.99) was a full styrofoam box and totally worth the money. Some small mix ups with our order, but quickly rectified by the staff. Not a perfect dining experience but the food is solid, and they are well-meaning family staff.
Wow! As you can tell we eat out A LOT! I leave honest reviews and really try to seek out amazingness! Please let me tell you this is the place y'all have been searching for!! You walk into a family of love at island grill and pub. Customer service is top of the top. Like I said it's family environment of love. Then you take your first bite and you feel complete. It is done to perfection. Meat so juice and tender you just can't even. And flavors of true island love. We drove 2 hours for this and we will be doing it again. Thank you for opening and staying strong through it all .
Absolutely incredible! My husband's family is from Jamaica and he has been raving about how amazing and authentic the food is. Very caring staff and fresh, flavorful food, even fot a non-Caribbean. The Mac and cheese reminds me of my mom's home cooking and the curry chicken was so moist and flavorful. Literally fell off the bone. We will definitely be visiting and ordering from here often to get a taste of home.
How did I not know this was here. Such a laid back, great place to hang out. Lots of tables, yet roomy, and a very relaxing corner with couches and chairs to chill. I ate the chicken and shrimp, with brown rice and beans, with their special spicy sauce and a beer. So delicious, and some groovy island music in the back ground. Definitely earned a returning customer ?
