I gave this restaurant 3 stars, because the food is really good best Mexican food I think in Rock Hill, however the customer service needs a lot of work. You walk in to be serviced and they act like you are imposing on them wanting to be waited on. I understand if they were super busy but I only saw 3 people in the restaurant time of being serviced.
Failure of a once-great place. This used to me go-to Mexican place. While the service remained “OK”, the food was hideous.
Honestly didn't think it was going to be much...but after being seated the staff just makes you feel right at home! The food was AWESOME and the lunch prices were UNBELIEVABLE!! I had the chicken chimichanga comes with choice of rice OR beans along side lettuce, sour cream and the pico stuff I don't like but you might. Husband had soft chicken tacos with beans and also the salad. Cheese dip for our chips was good. Salsa was terriffic, we asked for more. This is not a fancy upscale place its laid back home like feel with some damn good food!! Total bill was less than $20 for 2 ppl.
I want to give this place 5 stars for the food, because the food really is delicious here, and at the price you can't beat the quality.The service is about the only thing I've ever had an issue with. It's really hit or miss, and depends on who is serving you. The first time I went we had great service, and the second time was really bad service.But, the last time we came about 2 weeks ago, there were some new faces and the service was great!Don't let that deter you from coming here and trying this restaurant, the food is excellent and well priced!!
I've yet to try anything I didn't like on the menu, and I am slowly making my way through it. The guacamole, though, is what really caught my attention. How is it so creamy while still having good chunk? How do they do it?! I don't know, but I love it. Even my mother, who's picky, has specifically requested we go there for lunch when she drops by. And she orders extra guacamole to take home with her every time. I want some just thinking about it...
It's ok, but the hot salsas I notice they have a sticker with the time of expiration. This a advice to the owner salsas have to make fresh every day.... it's better that way.
We have lived in this area for the past two years and we have been looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant the entire time. My wife was born and raised in Southern California, so her expectations are very high with regards to this cuisine.When I tell you that she was dancing in her seat at the quality of El Molcajete Restaurant’s authentic Mexican food, I would be understating her excitement.This restaurant is HIGHLY recommended, and wife approved!
This place is unbelievable! I think this is the best authentic Mexican (not Tex-Mex!) restaurant in the entire Charlotte metro area! It's a little divey but I think that just adds to the charm! It's at the end of an old shopping center close to a neighborhood and off the beaten path. One thing to know about this place is bring your appetite as the portions are huge! My friend ordered the chicken burrito and couldn't finish it! It was huge! The queso with chorizo is fabulous andnot to be missed as they use homemade chorizo. The chorizo used is easily the best that I have ever had.Of course, how can you pass on their signature dish, The Molajeto Bowl which is grilled meats and grilled cactus in a hot stoneware bowl. Fabulous!
I love the food at Molcajete and the service has always been quick and friendly. As a Texan living in the Midwest, I can't thank you enough for serving me wonderful Mexican food. At Molcajete the food is the star, but I was too busy to take pictures of it. ? Order the guacamole! (and the carnitas torta and the churros and the tacos and ...)
