We had heard amazing things about this place and had to go there while on vacation. First let me say, cleanliness is not high on their priority. We watched a server clear a table and not wipe it down. She then proceeded to put a piece of paper over the table, with all the dirty spills still underneath....gross! We actually were going to be sat there, but we moved to another table that had been wiped down. The burgers were okay as were the onion rings. The place is a mess, peanut shells everywhere and you are allowed to write wherever you want....very strange, but the kids liked it. We most likely won't return, but glad we tried it!( Tbis review is from 2016- original account was deleted)

OMG!!!! Definitely worth the wait!!! Yummy yummy yummy! We had the Texas bbq burger and the Continental burger and the fries with chili and cheese and bacon… we added ranch fyi to take it up a notch! That’s Cincy style lol ? Best restaurant hands down on our trip! The staff was very friendly and they are real smart on the business concept of the to go cups and plastic silverware and metal tray service and sheet covers for tables…. This allows for easy turnover and safer for covid stuff and less stress on staff and back of house! Food was served so quick and hot! Thank you ? see you again on our next trip.. plan on doing other location before we leave.

I visited the restaurant on June 23rd, we had a party of 7. Quickly seated around 11:45 AM. Very nice staff and very cool atmosphere. The food was excellent! The Texas BBQ is mouth watering. The onion ring appetizer was amazing. During our week stay we definitely thought this was the best restaurant we got to eat at.

This was our first time eating at River City Cafe, it was amazingly good. Bobby was our server and he did great. Recommendations were spot on. Prices were completely reasonable. We will be back, Best Burgers in Town!

My wife and I along with our 10-year old twin girls recently took in dinner at the River City Café as part of our first time visit to Myrtle Beach. After hearing several positive reviews from a variety of sources regarding how great their burgers were, our curiosity finally won over and we made it over to Barefoot On The Beach to grab a late meal. That said, here was our takeaway: ARRIVAL: On account of the 45 minute waitlist we were put on when we arrived, we could tell this was a very popular spot. Being in no rush, we decided to patiently wait for our names to be called and give this place a go. The gentleman who greeted us was friendly and courteous, and despite it being very busy (as is the norm apparently), he had us seated as quickly as he could. Very lively spot, lots of bustling about, with a bar/pub like atmosphere. MEALS: My wife and I both ordered the Swiss Mushroom Burger, both of which we thoroughly enjoyed (once I assembled mine, will get to that later). I additionally ordered the cheese/chili fries, which were also great. No complaints about the food itself, albeit a pricey burger. SERVICE: As aforementioned, upon arrival we were seated promptly, however, things seemed to take a turn after that. The waitress that came over to ‘take care’ of us, arrived with an expression that felt like we had somewhat inconvenienced her. Granted, we had arrived later in the evening (after 9pm), and we tried to give her the benefit of the doubt that perhaps she’d had a long shift, but she made no bones about it letting us know by the service we received. When we told her we needed a few more minutes (since we had two young ones to sort out as well), she sauntered off, seemingly unamused. When she eventually came back, she robotically took our orders and was off once more. Again, we tried to brush off her bruskness as a ‘tough day at the office’, but what followed next we deemed very unacceptable. Not once did she ever ask to check on our drinks, and virtually disappeared until it was time to receive the bill. When our meals finally arrived, things took an even more bizarre turn. My wife’s burger arrived fine, but when mine did, there was nothing but bread, cheese and a patty in the burger! When she finally noticed this, she told me she’d be right back, and instead of fixing the order, came back to the table with all the burger fillers on a separate plate! (i.e. lettuce, tomato, onions, etc,). I quite literally had to assemble my own burger, but before I could say a thing, she was off again. Not wanting to drag this out any further, I put my burger together, she swung by one more time to drop off the bill without even a ‘hope your enjoyed your meals’ or a basic ‘have a good night’, and we left shortly after. Sadly, its always the service you receive in the end that will trump what was on your plate when you find yourself left with a sour taste in your mouth. VALUE: Ahh, always a subjective question, but when weighing out the combination of food and service, we felt the scales were quite imbalanced for what we received. Despite the well known adage, ‘you pay for what you get’, this was one of those rare occasions we had to disagree. Again, we are strictly basing value on this particular experience, and perhaps other patrons have had a more pleasant experience (unless this is the norm…) THE BOTTOM LINE: The River City Café in North Myrtle Beach is often considered a signature visit for most visitors to the area in pursuit of a decent burger, and based on the alternative options around, there quite possibly is evidence to back this up. That said, based on the past reviews I’ve read coupled with our own personal experience, there is a general consensus that service is where the River City Café falters in many cases. Again, I don’t doubt how busy or stressful it can get catering to so many patrons on a daily basis, especially in an area where tourism is king, but a simple smile and a little bit of courtesy go leaps and bounds, especially for first time visitors. To that end, a solid three stars, all earned by the meal, servicing

Mostly a burger joint, it’s ok. Prices are high. Service was good.

The food is always delicious and well priced. The onion rings are huge and so are the burgers. I had the Teriyaki chicken sandwich and it was awesome. My mom got a burger and she said it was the best burger she's had in a long time.

The customer service here is not the greatest, I had a waitress that could careless if she was there or not. The food is subpar, the burger lacked a little bit of flavor and the onion rings were okay. The only thing i liked was the cheese curds they were delicious.

Food is good. Ate sweet potato fries and turkey burger, probably should have asked for it "well done" based on personal preference, but still enjoyed it. Son had the "nacho burger" he was a big fan. Didn't care for the slaw, tastes like something from somewhere up north. Waitress did a good job.

We come here every trip to the beach. Everything is delicious and the service is consistently pleasant. My only request would be a smaller patty or smashburger option.
