Not only the best ice cream on the coast, but the best ice cream in the Carolinas. These guys run a wonderful business and have not tried to change a thing. They've let nostalgia rule the day and it's winning! We come here every trip, multiple times and it never fails. I highly recommend Painters.
Stopped in last night to give it a try. Everyone in my group received their ice cream except me (1 scoop in a cup). Waited a few minutes but as everyone after us started getting their orders, I tried to get their attention in the window. The guy snapped "well what did you have??" While making a hand motion for me to hurry up. Rude, but they were busy so I didn't say anything. Finally get my ice cream. What I can only describe as a kiddie cup sized portion, normally fine but for the price you expect more. Anyways, get to the car and I'm not sure what flavor they gave me bc it didn't really taste like anything, but I know it wasn't what I ordered because it had peanuts in it. Wasn't in the mood to get snapped at again so ended up leaving with whatever flavor that was I was given.
Ice cream quality ok, for the miniature one scoop cup I give 1 star. I can go to Whitt's frozen custard and get a cup for half the price u charged me! I sorry I stopped! What a rip off!!
Visited Painters twice while vacationing in North Myrtle Beach. On the first night we went, the line was about 15 people deep. That being said, the line moved quickly. The shop has all of their daily flavors listed on a board so you can easily select your flavor. The ice cream was creamy with good flavor. On our second trip we decided to go in the late afternoon and there was no line at all. If you are in the Myrtle Beach Area and love good ice cream, give them a try.
Hadn't been here in 20+ years. I expected that homemade ice cream flavor I used to love but no dice. The milkshake was okay (but $6 for a small was a bit steep). The chocolate tasted like milk with Nestle QUIK....I won't be back...and obviously, they won't miss my business....
2022 June 30, a manager at another restaurant recommended this ice cream parlor since it was mom pop and not a chain, so me, my brothers and our families tried it. Some of my family did not like it, my brother said that the person at the window was rude to him since my brother asked for peanuts and banana, he said he did not want or have any banana and the peanuts would be an additional cost, my brother also said he would not come here again, my sister in law did not like her ice cream, her daughter threw her ice cream in the trash almost immediately after tasting it and another niece did not like her ice cream too. For that reason, I have to change my review to 1 star.3 years prior, I said, We stopped here for some homemade ice cream. The ice cream was good.
Absolutely delicious, creamy ice cream! Don't be discouraged by the crowd the line moves fast! Better than the boardwalk
Wasn't real satisfied with Painters. I was hoping for a really good hot fudge sundae and got the opposite. It was just vanilla with chocolate syrup on top. At least put fudge on a hot fudge sundae. Way over priced too. They serve quickly but they need to focus on quality. Perhaps cones and custom favors are better, idk.
My husband has had a craving for a banana split for some time and I suggested we try Painters. We drive by almost every day but our first time here. Service is fast and efficient and the split very rewarding. Creamy ice cream, flavorful syrups, fresh banana and whipped cream. I was happy with a cup of strawberry ice cream. Plenty of parking. Recommended.
Best ice cream I've had in a long time. There was 5 of us and we all agreed after eating at a few other ice cream places that this was the best by far. I had pistachio almond and black cherry and they were the best I've had in years. A must stop for any ice cream lover
