DECEPTIVE 20% TIP.The food was pretty good, but there are signs indicating that a 20% tip is included. It was not clear that the tip is IN ADDITION to the menu price. I had a $16 chimichanga and assumed that price was WITH the tip. It ended up being $21 on the receipt. Just be mindful of the actual price. Also, they never gave me the rice and beans that came with my meal.
El Cerros has always been a decent place to eat. The food is good and prices are within reason. They have changed (Probly to retain staff), an automatic 20 percent tip on your bill. But I must admit, I was pleased with my service and they were extremely fair and did not impose the tip on your total bill, they did not include the tax amount which many places do. I do not agree with tipping on the tax. Overall good visit.
The food is always good, but I feel the customer service could be improved. I called and placed a to go order. I was not told that a 20% gratuity was added to my credit card. I paid a cash tip when I picked up my order. I did not realize until I got home that I double tipped. If a 20% gratuity is added to take out orders, I think the customer should be notified prior to taking the order.
Food was very good, service was slow. Sign at the door says 20% gratuity is added. When I received my ticket it showed $33.00 with a space for tip. I had to ASK for the breakdown of the bill to see a 20% tip was already added. The slip he gave me to sign didn't show a tip as part of the total. He was hoping I wouldn't notice and tip more. BUYERS BE AWARE.
Asked for the lunch special. My husband and I were sharing because we don't eat a lot. I asked before I ordered if it was the lunch special for the day and was told yes. It was supposed to be $9.99. When we got the bill it was almost $20.00 and a 20% tip was automatically included for just the two of us. The food was ok but not great. Needless to say this will be our very last time going there.
$15 for a chicken burrito at a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant? It better be good.Spoiler alert, its not. Bland chicken that never touched a grill. Watery sauce. Served luke warm. The burritos at Taco Bell have more flavor.Ordered a kids meal hamburger for my daughter. It’s actually a slider. One slider. For $8.Be aware that the 20% tip is compulsory. So make sure you get good service because you’re going to be paying for it when you get your check. Also, the restaurant had a slight sewage odor when we entered. The smell was strong enough that the entire family noticed it.I wanted to like this place since it is convenient in NMB. At these prices you can enjoy a meal with flavor at Taco Mundo and have a nice view to boot. Still expensive for Mexican food, but at least you won’t fell ripped off and the tips aren’t compulsory. El Cerro prices are at least 30% overpriced IMO.
I’m conflicted tonight. Food was very good. But I do not appreciate having and automatic 20% tip added for a one person order. I generally tip generously but when you make it required, it’s not cool. As a local, and a regular customer, I may have to rethink my choices. I get you’re worried about “tourists” but it’s your local here a year round.
The food was good but the chips was stale. They only bring one cup of salsa for a table to share. Our server didn't come to our table regular and let us run out of soda and tea. The ladies bathroom smells and needed cleaning. I'm not sure if I would like to try this restaurant again! It was pricey for lunch .
I enjoyed the food. It was hot and tasted good. Service was quick and staff friendly. I was happy with everything. I don't drink but other patrons said the margaritas are great.
Always eat here when visiting Myrtle Beach. They have the best fried wings, seasoned so well, finger licking good, the wings were our appetizer. My husband's entree was the grilled chicken salad, mine was the salmon valartta. We both enjoyed all of the food. Heads up...they have changed gratituty policy since Covid, 20% automatically added to your check regardless of number of people.
