My wife and I had dinner in Sweetgrass, which is located in the Crowne Plaza hotel. We should have taken our cue from the fact that the place was empty when we arrived slightly after seven pm. My first hint that this was not going to be special was my scotch on the rocks which tasted watered down. My second did also. My wife’s Sauvignon Blanc was fine. Her maple bourbon roasted salmon was fine and the accompanying sweet potato fries were good. My “hand carved ribeye” was very thin, overcooked and tough. The accompanying roasted Brussels tasted good, but were swimming in butter and oil. Service was pleasant, but very slow.
Right inside the hotel, delicious food and great service!
What a nice find! I used Trip Advisor to find this restaurant and I had a great dinner- glazed salmon with roasted brussel sprouts for a very good price; $19. My waitress, Demetria, was a delightful woman. She was friendly and checked on me several times. So glad I stopped here. Thank you. Nice Matters, Irene.
Good food and excellent service by one overworked waitress.
The nachos were really good!
The she Crab Soup was good it just had a lot of crab shells in it.
Even though it states online it's open since 7:00 am it is not so call before you go. We arrived around 3:40-4:00, it was closed, and who I believe is the manager very nice and polite told us it was closed but we were welcome to come back at 5:00pm when they open. We decided to go back at 5:00, still closed, we waited for almost half-hour and nothing. As we were leaving, we found the manager, and he didn't apologize, or gave us a reason why he suggested we wait for nothing. Won't be back, Won't recommend
Had the shrimp and grits and it was great.however they only put 3 shrimps in it.The place was very cleaned and service was very nice. They wait wasn't long. definitely will eat here again
Having a good restaurant inside your hotel is a wonderful bonus on any vacation. The Sweetgrass Restaurant offered tasty food, quick & friendly service, and a nice atmosphere without having to leave the premises. We would certainly stay in the hotel again based on the close location to the Charleston Airport and we would dine at this restaurant again during our stay as well.
Sweetgrass Restaurant and Porch is located inside the Crowne Plaza Hotel Charleston Airport on Tanger Outlet Boulevard in North Charleston. They specialize in Southern cuisine and are open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have both an indoor dining room and an outdoor dining patio (or “Porch”). At breakfast you can either order off the menu or opt for their buffet. Lunch and dinner are served tapas-style (small shareable plates), although you have the option of ordering a meal-sized portion. I stopped here for dinner while I was in North Charleston on a business trip in late October 2021. Since I was in the greater Charleston area, I had to order one of the region’s signature dishes, shrimp and grits. I was not disappointed. The shrimp was tender, the grits were just the consistency I like, the bacon crumbles added a nice contrast in texture as well as smokiness, and the gravy was thick, rich and flavorful. I was initially a little taken aback that the dish also had grape tomatoes, but realized the acidity of the tomatoes helpd cut through the richness of the gravy. The presentation was pleasing and the dinner portion was generous. The only things that marred my visit were service-related. Now, the service I received was friendly and cordial; it’s just that they seemed understaffed. For example, there was no one covering the host station and I had to go find someone to seat me. Also, they had an issue with their credit card reader -- I was trying to use my company credit card and the reader kept requiring my PIN, and no one could figure out how to override it. Fortunately, I was able to use my personal debit card, but had I not brought it this issue could have been a real problem. Despite the service snafus, I enjoyed my meal at Sweetgrass Restaurant and Porch and would be willing to dine there again.
