I am a brisket fiend and am very particular about it. I ordered the marbled cut and the flavor was phenomenal! The bark, smoke, and juicy flavor of the beef blended with the texture of the perfectly rendered fat puts this brisket as the best I’ve ever had. The mac and cheese, greens, slaw, fries, and ribs are good too. Ribs weren’t fall-off-the-bone, but the flavor was on point. The waitstaff is also very gracious as our waitress watched me have what I would describe as the big O when I took my first bite of the included cheese biscuits. We will definitely be back!
I joined the waiting list and waited DIRECTLY in front in my car. Every time the young hostess stepped out to call a party I was alert. I decided to go inside assuming my party would be called next, and he proceeded to ask me if he could help me. I tell him I’m on the list and he stated I couldn’t be on the list because the list is done. He was extremely rude and condescending. We were finally seated after I asked for a manager. ? It was pretty late on Saturday and they were almost out of everything! No chicken!I ordered the ribs and it was okay. The food wasn’t very hot and it was just a ball of aggravation at this point. It was freezing in there and almost unbearable.
Stayed within walking distance of this place. Thought we would give it a try and boy was it worth it. I had the baked potato topped with brisket and my husband had the BBQ chicken with corn on the cob and potato salad. Mm mm good!
Place was nice, service was quite good. Menu is limited. I had the three-meat combo. The Carolina pulled pork was great, the regular pork was good, but the ribs were terrible - tough, seemed re-heated. Taste was OK, but not worth the fight to eat them. The bbq corn was awful too. My wife had the brisket, and it was pretty good. Portions were large.
Best Bar-B-Q I've had in a long time! The portions were hearty and the price was reasonable. It will definitely be on our agenda if we visit Charleston again.
Had the lean brisket. They offer lean or fatty. The lean was fork tender. Mild smokey flavor. Just the way I like it. The corn muffins wete excellent also. Affordable and fast service
I’m currently a student at PMTS which is right by this location so I normally will treat myself once a week and have never had an issue thus far, I absolutely love Jim N Nicks! However, today was the exception. I ordered a Smoked Turkey Plate. I had to get back to class so I ordered it to go. I opened it and was greeted with Turkey that wasn’t fully cooked and STILL COLD.
Good food. We had ribs (good), fried fish (good) , smoked turkey breast (very good) , brisket (good) and side were good. They are know for their cheese biscuits which are really mini muffins were ok but needed some jelly/jam IMO (had them with breakfast the next day)
The place is going through the motions. The brisket is rubbery and looks like it was cooked in an oven. The weird glaze/bbq sauce was an afterthought and did not complement the dry smokeless flavor of the meat. The macaroni tasted like they dumped a shaker of salt in it. The beer taps had to be taken down other than bud light and yeungling and those had too much CO2 in their lines. The staff looks like they are still on covid protocol and we're lifeless and not customer service or sales oriented. If you want poor to mediocre this might be the place for you.
Food was great, you have to be patient
