This is the third time we have been to Genaro’s and everything was excellent as always. We had our 8 month old with us this time and she was being a bit fussy so we told our waiter (Tim) that we would take everything as fast as they could get it to us. He did great and got the delicious food out fast and gave us great service as he always does. Genaro’s never disappoints and tonight was no exception. Tim is great and so are the chefs cooking the food! It is the best Italian food around! We will be back again and again. Thanks Tim for the great service tonight.
The food was absolutely delicious! There was a 1 hour wait to be served but it was well worth it. I chose the seafood pasta and my husband had the veal. The bread, salads and appetizers(calamari) were soo good and the main course was outstanding. The server could not have been any nicer and we also had the pleasure of meeting the owner. This was a great experience and we will definitely be going back. My only problem is not visiting sooner. We've passed this restaurant for many years and never tried it out! Big mistake!
My husband and I have wanted to try this place for a while. We certainly experienced a couple minor issues (after waiting 5 min on the phone to make a reservation, the host hung up on me, then forgot we were waiting outside once we got there and skipped us) and had to endure an apologetically inept waitress. The food, however, was delicious! We both got the blackened salmon with shrimp fettuccine alfredo. We also really enjoyed the bread dipped in olive oil and seasoning.
The pizza was really good! The service is friendly. The owner comes to check on each customer. That is appreciated. Hopefully they will be able to hire more staff so that the current staff is not so taxed and busy. The staff is really pleasant and helpful, just working very hard.
The food is awesome, but we sat at the bar tonight for dinner and I’ve never had service this bad in my life. I’ve worked as a bartender for 16 years and have a lot of compassion and understanding for the job; however, this service was brutal. My husband and were at the bar for 45 minutes and were only served one drink, meanwhile the bartender had 3 drinks himself. There were 12 people total in the bar so this was pretty inexcusable. We ended up getting our entrees to go to end the misery. Great restaurant if you sit in the dining room. Skip the bar.
I’m so super sad about our recent experience!! We relocated from up North and found Gennaro’s about a year ago and had an outstanding dining experience!! We were so excited to have found authentic Italian food!!! We went back a few times trying various menu items including pizzas and desserts…and everything was always delicious-fresh made-to-order taste! Our recent experience was so different. It was like everything from the service to the food to the cleanliness of the restrooms took a serious nose-dive! The service was slow-which honestly is not a deal-breaker for me-all restaurants can have off/short-staffed nights and I know that the pandemic has affected many businesses ability to maintain adequate staffing. However the drastic drop in food quality was stunning. The texture and taste of everything just screamed frozen/pre-made & there was an overall lack of flavor. To top it off I used the restroom on the way out and it was dirty-and not the ‘it was a just an off-night’ kind of dirty but the ‘we stopped properly cleaning’ kind of dirty. I’m not sure what has happened but it was a total turn-off. It felt like paying a fine dining bill for a mediocre chain-restaurant experience. I truly hope that they can turn it around!!
Genarro’s has amazing, super-friendly service. Wait times can be extremely long without reservations. The food came out swiftly though. Wine, bread, and chicken parmigiana were great. Chicken Marsala and pizza were average.
Got here at 7:05 pm for a to go order scheduled for 7:20....they asked me more than ten times what the name on the order was them finally at 7:31 as I am the only person waiting I have to chime in again asking If my order was ready yet...."what is the name on the order?" These two people running the front should not be here!
This has been one of my favorite restaurants for as long as I can remember. We have never had a bad experience until last night. We made a spontaneous decision to dine here . My Husband and I were going to reconsider coming in; as the parking lot was super crowded and we did not have a reservation. My husband decided we should stay anyway. Our wait time was excellent despite the crowd. All was well until our waiter arrived. He approached our table, did not introduce himself. He did say hello and immediately asked us what we waned to drink. My husband asked where the drinks were listed, and the waiter was silent. My husband flipped the food menu over looking, not once did the waiter intervene. We finally realized the drink menu was on the table also. We did not have a chance to review it, as we had just been seated , so I asked if we could have a few min. The waiter did not respond verbally, but turned around rolled his eyes and walked away obviously annoyed. We were shocked that this had happened. I don't know if he was overwhelmed, and needed our order quickly or what. His lack of engagement and body language were inappropriate and we decided to leave and take our busnisness elsewhere. Maybe our appearance ( we were dressed very casually) made an impact. He looked just like us, (African American) so I cannot even imply that it was racial. I've never encountered this from a server before. It was so random. We were looking forward to a wonderful meal at one of my favorite places. This behavior put a damper on the rest of our evening and He should be made aware.I am a nurse and I know how important customer service is. Very disappointing.Sincerely,The couple in the rear dining room at the table for 2 right by the door.
I called on Friday and left a VM in regards to a reservation. I told them the time and the amount of people. It was my fault that I assumed if they didn’t call back it would be fine. I figured if the time wasn’t going to work they would have called to try and make a time that would work. We arrived at the restaurant and the hostess said we don’t have you down. I asked why didn’t they call and she said if we could have made the time work they would have called me. I felt that if they wanted my business they would have called me and tried to work out a good time for us to come in and eat. So we asked what the wait time was and they said 45. She took my number down. She said we will call you when table is ready.Hour passed never got a call that tables was ready.
