Multiple vegetarian and vegan options. Staff was acquainted with vegan food options. Their curry pastes do not come pre-mixed with fish sauce (this is a welcome change compared to most other Thai restaurants), but we did specify no fish sauce. We had tom yum soup, veg spring rolls, green curry with tofu and yellow curry with pumpkin and tofu. The food did take a while to come out but it was freshly made piping hot, everything was spot on and the taste was outstanding! Best food of a week-long trip.
Very nice staff, able to accommodate my vegan diet. Fried rice was very good. Yellow curry was awesome but quite spicy. Dining space was pretty warm but otherwise comfortable for my group of 4.
Small family - owned restaurant. We ordered the beef laap and was presently surprised how much ground meat there was. We've gone to so many different places where they provided very little meat and covered up what little meat they'd give you with tons of vegetables but this restaurant had a good amount of meat! It was very good! Love the fresh veggies too! My fav was the crispy calamari! I love the authenticity of the food and would definitely return! My son gave it a thumbs up and he's pretty picky! So we recommend!
I've eaten at Thai Lao a few different times on various trips to MB and it's a terrific place for some authentic Thai food! I really enjoy the pad see eww with either beef or chicken and my wife loves the pad mama with veggies. Highly recommend and we will be back next time we are in MB!
I come from NYC, moved to Myrtle Beach 6+ years ago. I am a huge fan of Thai food and just discovered Thai Lao two months ago. Been back 4 times since. I ask myself, why did it take me so long to find this place? Their papaya salad is delicious, as is their Panang curry with chicken & pineapple fried rice. My mouth waters when i think of it. If you get there early enough to order off their lunch menu, do it. Otherwise, they are a bit pricey, but well worth it. I’d rather pay more for good food than eat bad food for less. Black Thai in Conway was awesome, but closed a few years ago(I believe their landlord tried to jack up their rent when their lease was up). Thank you Thai Lao for being here.
I Googled best Thai food near me and found this gem. On vacation, my husband and I wanted different dinners so he got BBQ take out and I ordered a bunch of items here for us to eat and snack on.The sumtum was some of the best I've had. If we lived here, this would be someplace I would eat at regularly. Seems like a great family run business. I highly recommend this place!
An informal eaterie with a very casual server. We went in for take out and waited 15-20 mins for our food. My friend binned his main... A shame.
My wife and I loved the spring rolls and the pad thai. The curry soup we ordered was decent but I probably wouldn’t order it again. One of the things that really stood out to me is the quality of their ingredients. All of the vegetables they used were very fresh and delicious. The two women who waited on us today were nice and helpful. Was a little pricey for the portion sizes but not entirely unreasonable. Would eat here again.
We have been going to Thai Lao since it opened. The food is wonderful and the service awesome and friendly. We always make sure that we dine there several times while we are in Myrtle Beach.
You can never get a bad meal here. While it might look like a "hole in the wall" it is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. The staff are always friendly and the food is always excellent. I have eaten there for years and as a local know that if you don't get there before lunch or dinner it’s hard to find a seat. The staff will customize your heat level of the dish of your choice. Their sweet and spicy noodle soup is so good on a cold day. The Thai Lao noodle soup is more than you can eat and never disappoints. Can't beat the lunch specials and my favorite is the Pad Thai chicken. Yum!
