I get it. Apparently this place has a problem with customers not paying and leaving. But the fix for this shouldn't be make every customer surrender their driver's license and credit card for the duration of the meal. First, if the customer has to leave suddenly for an emergency they can't just throw down enough cash to pay the bill and leave, they have to wait for the server to bring their license and credit card back. Second, by holding your ID it is vulnerable to theft or the information on it. Your license has your name, address, date of birth and license number. If someone else gets that information your identity can easily be compromised. It isn't like they are putting your ID and card in a secured location. They leave up by the Kiosk order stations. Finally, there are other ways to cure this problem of dining theft. Use the credit card to open a tab and return the card. Have the server identify the person by their license but not give it to the server (still obnoxiously intrusive but less than giving it up). Or just have people pay when the meal arrives. When this issue was addressed with management I was threatened, shoved, and the manager tried to intimidate by standing up against me with his gut bumping into me constantly. He was extremely rude and insulting. Never going back. If you value the protection of your identity you should think twice about going here.
Nice place, WORST SERVICE, long wait and Elevator Stopped on us!!!!!! We waited 5 HOURS and order was still WRONG!!!! Cold Food!!! My Mom BDAY Dinner!!!!! There was a Big Disturbance bc kids were sleeping when food came, food we didn't order, and it was cold. Manager was saying our time matched the seating times!! Dishonest!!!! Head Chief saying he didn't know where I was from because I was RUDE when he was talking RUDE to me!!!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!
We almost didn’t come because of the reviews but so glad we did. The server Erica was fantastic she recommended a steamer, appetizers and drinks, kept our drinks fresh and suggested places to stop and get desert. The ocean view was also worth the trip on its own. this will now be a yearly destination
Definitely pricey, and a 3% surcharge on food? I had the fish n chips, my wife had the half chicken, daughter had the shrimp basket, my son had fish tacos. All the food was good and service was alright. $140 for 4 seems average here.
Great location overlooking the water. Can dine inside or out. The po boy shrimp sandwich on a large fresh bun had 6 one inch shrimp in it. Wish it had a few more shrimp because it was good. Husbands chicken in a salad was also good. Nice that they had valet parking. Kids e liked the kids menu choices and meals. Wait staff were friendly, Would go back next time we visit!
I am traveling with another adult and three children. We went on a weeknight. The wait was 45 minutes but we hung out outside near the beach. There are multiple dining options with an inside air conditioned area, two stories of patio dining, as well as a rooftop bar. Two of the kids ordered the fish and chips. The other ordered chicken tenders. The adults ordered a Chicken Caesar Salad to split because portion sizes are large, a Glazed Teriyaki Chicken Kabobs, and a Mac Out with Blackened Chicken. The food was wonderful. The kids thoroughly enjoyed it and the atmosphere as did us adults. There was also a corn hole tournament going on in the back and a DJ.
My experience wasn't horrible but I expected a bit more after reading the reviews. The atmosphere was good for a beach side restaurant. I had the Half chicken meal and the chicken was seasoned/tasted great. The seasoned potatoes and corn were bland which could use a good taste touch up.The chicken egg rolls appetizers delicious and the best part of the meal.
One of the worst restaurants we’ve been to in a long time. Lost our ticket and waited for over an hour to get our foid. Had to chase down the waitress to get silverware. My husband ordered turkey BLT, tried a few bites spitting out gristle and said he couldn’t eat it. The bacon was very undercooked. I tried a bite without tge bacon & turkey didn’t taste right. He ate only a few french fries. Instead of removing the uneaten meal from our check, the manager fave only a $4 discount. I had so so shrimp platter. Never going back!
This was our second visit to Rip Tydz. We liked the atmosphere and service last time, so went back. Roof top and upstairs bar were fun. Cocktails were made well and the price was reasonable. Went downstairs for a bite to eat. Had the jerk chicken and was very happy with the portion size and the quality. My wife had the lobster rolls. She was also happy with her choice and portion size, although I thought the two rolls were a bit small. The reason that they did not get a 5/5 is that they forgot our appetizer, which we really did not need. Overall, was happy with all of the service, food and drinks, so will definitely be back.
Awesome ocean view, wonderfully seasoned ribeye dinner, great tv’s and music. Very clean restaurant with friendly staff.
