Food wasn't being served but the staff is what really saved this place. We would have left immediately but the bartender was so engaging and helpful we stayed and chatted just to tip the guy hahaI think his name was Scott maybe? Younger guy. Even though they weren't serving food, he offered to serve us Oysters but that's not what we were looking for so opted not to have those.
Great service and the food was awesome.
My father-in-law and I enjoyed outstanding James River oysters on the half shell, and I also chose the garlic clams, which were tender and perfectly steamed. My wife had some really good sushi, and my mother-in-law gave high marks to the garlic mussels. We dined at an outside table and our server was friendly and helpful. The only off-note in our meal were overcooked, unappealing bacon-wrapped scallops. Otherwise, On The Half Shell totally delivered on its promise of fresh seafood in a relaxed dining environment, as far as we're concerned. Be sure to check it out if you're in the area.
Randomly stopped in for lunch. I had the fried oyster platter and my buddy had the fried shrimp platter. We both agreed that the food was good. Our server was friendly and kept our iced tea glasses full.
Tommy, or waiter was fantastic he gave us great recommendations on what to have for lunch. My wife had the grilled fish sandwich and I had the grilled fish tacos. The tacos were fantastic and had a sweet mango salsa dressing. I love the dressing so much I asked Tommy for a side of the dressing and I dip my fries in it. Angela's grilled fish sandwich was big and she loved it, with a great tasting tartar sauce. The restaurant is also part of a sports bar and would be a fantastic place to watch any sports game and have some beer and good food while you're watching the games I would recommend any of the menu items they all seem very tasty and are reasonably priced
Wonderful staff. fantastic food. great happy hour 4-7
Overcooked fried food (burnt). Not fresh and very greasy. I could not wait to get home and change my clothes from smelling like old grease. Will not go back! Plenty of better places to eat in Murrells Inlet. Very disappointing. I expected better than what was served.
Nice friendly atmosphere. Bartenders were on point. Food was delicious!
I went with family and there was 6 people behind us 3 girls 2 guys who were so hungover all they did was scream and yell the whole time they were there. I got the california roll was really good I got the seafood platter and substitutes fish for extra clam strips first the waitress didn't know if they could substitute and then the coleslaw had NO flavor the clam strips were rock hard and over burnt they didn't change their oil out the clam strips tasted like fish my oysters were sandy tasting so they didn't clean them right at all the french fries were frozen and stuck together and undercooked WILL NEVER GO BACK
I love to find places like this to eat seafood. The platter was great and piled high. Would definitely go here again!!!!
