Do NOT ever go to this restaurant unless you want to be embarrassed, discriminated, or insulted. This restaurant has no respect for their customers nor do they have moral principles. Decided to go to this restaurant to get some food and drinks with some friends. When we asked the waitress to order some appetizers and drinks, she took our IDs and kept them because she claimed they were fake. One of my friends even had a second form of identification. The restaurant then proceeded to call the cops and lie to the cops when they said we were drunk (mind you we hadn’t been able to drink because she thought our IDs were fake). The bouncer yelled in one of my friend’s face as well (keep your cool dude). The cops did clear our IDs of being valid in the end (Shout out to Mount Pleasant PD who handled this situation very well). If I were the owner I would consider hiring new and FRIENDLY staff.
I hope these guys were just having an off night. The reviews looked great but the service is the worst I’ve had in over a year. Walked up to the host stand at 9:10 and waited for a minute…no host. Moved to the bar and was immediately greeted and told to find our own table outside. The service took 25 minutes just to get us waters. We watched as group after group walked on the deck, looked for a table, and then left because ALL the available tables were never cleaned….check the photo. We would have left if there was anywhere else serving food. We finally got our food an hour after we sat down. Huge, huge let down for Charleston on a holiday weekend. Bar staff finally came out and started clearing tables which is something they should never have to do. They (bartenders) seemed to be the only ones who worked here. Abysmal service….I worked in food/bev for years. I would have fired every server after a night like this.
Wasn't a fan of the mustard based BBQ sauce for the low country rolls. Shrimp and grits were good but a lot of grits for only a few shrimp and pieces of sausage. The bouncer was very helpful though asking the age of my daughter and advising karaoke would be starting soon which helped us make the better decision of ordering take out versus eating in.
Service was awesome and fast. I ordered the smothered chicken biscuit off the brunch menu. It was the perfect comfort food for the cool rainy morning. The biscuit was massive! And a huge side of skillet potatoes. My dad and brother got the stuffed french toast. A stole me a bite and I'd definitely recommend that too!
Dog, the food here is so good! Get the stuffed French toast and let the good times roll! Decent spot and the atmosphere is fun/vibrant. Will visit again!
WOW! How did I miss this place for so long in Mount Pleasant on Shem Creek??? The atmosphere is just perfect. PLENTY of Indoor and outdoor seating, spacious and roomy, a very down to earth decor. There’s no pretentiousness here. The service will knock you out of your shoes. Friendly and genuine but not overkill. Thebar pours with a heavy hand, something almost nonexistent nowadays. And then there is the food!Smaller menu but great variety lies within and this also means what they do serve is fresh and delicious! You can tell they focus and concentrate on the items that come out of the kitchen! There will be something on the menu for someone. And the prices? For this area?? MORE than reasonable for the quality food coming out of the kitchen! This is definitely the type of place where you would want to meet friends after work, hang outside and just have a good time! The Shelter Bar & Grill is WIN WIN WIN!!!But it’s easy to not notice it. You can pass by it in the blink of an eye and not even really know there’s a restaurant there. All you really see is a gigantic porch facing the highway.
Amazing brunch spot in Charleston over by Shem Creek! It’s usually packed so be prepared to wait a little, but definitely worth it if you have to. Amazing food, mimosas, cocktails and staff!
Always a great go to place! Burger is awesome and so is brunch! They have a decent happy hour from 4-7 and They show most of the football games on Sunday. They have ample both indoor and outdoor seating. On Thursdays they do karaoke ! This place gets packed on weekends after 9-10 ish ! Almost like a club.
Came in for drinks with friends and had a great experience at the bar. The bartender was friendly, attentive, and she was on top of things. Not overly priced either. I will definitely be coming back to try the food out!
We had service until I took a taste of the unsweetened tea … which way too strong snd bitter. I asked for a glass of water . Still charged for tea snd didn’t get water till meal came . Charged over over 10 percent food tax .. Over 10 percent beverage … charge for debit card .. for ranch dressing … But ..no problem .. you get your money today but no more from 2 customers … been coming since you opened .. brought guests .. no more
