Cozy cafe with comfortable chairs but not too many outlets. Not many places have lavender flavoring for coffee so I really enjoyed that they have the option here. The breakfast bowl is fantastic and decently priced. Kinda small on the inside feeling a little cramped and a bit loud so bring noise cancelling earbuds. Outside seating is peaceful with no traffic at all and little distractions. The customer service was impeccable !!! The front of house baristas seem to enjoy their jobs and their positive attitudes made me smile (: love that its local too.

Great local coffee place. The customer service is great. The staff was very welcoming and acknowledged everyone as soon as you walk in the door. The coffee and food are amazing. The set up of the inside is very nice and flows well. It's definitely a hidden gem in Mt Pleasant. I'll definitely be back especially because it's so close to my office and I like the coffee?

When thinking of a place to knock out some work, I usually go to Starbucks. Unfortunately, my seasonal favorites are no longer around so I came here and am glad I did.Honestly, the chai latte is what keeps me coming back! It's usually the only thing I order...but studying makes me hungry so I grabbed lunch too. The broccoli grilled cheese (with tomato) was just alright until I added the juicy pickle slices and asked for some spicy mustard. Then it was delicious! It was served with sesame bagel chips. Now that I think about it, the egg & cheese bagel sandwiches I've had before were also a little on the dry/boring side...either add more cheese or serve it with a condiment. While there was steady business when I first arrived around 11:45, by 1 it was a full house! The vibe is a bit hipster, but I enjoy how different this place is from most coffee shops. One thing that stood out was how the staff greeted several people by name or knew their regular orders. And again, the chai latte! I've still gotta try one if those pour-over coffees...

I have always loved going here for coffee but today was pretty terrible. After ordering and spending $20 on two coffees, a bagel (with cream cheese), and a pastry along with a tip, the blonde kitchen worker in the back yelled at me over... wait for it.. yes, cream cheese. This may seem bizarre but when the bagel came out with nothing on it, I asked for the side of cream cheese that I had asked for originally. The blonde kitchen worker came out and began criticizing me in front of everyone about how this costs a dollar and that she's giving it to me for now. Do you think I care about a dollar when I'm spending $20 at your establishment? Someone clearly had a bad morning - but by the reviews it seems like the same woman has a bad morning every day.

Come for the coffee, stay for the COOKIES. I’m quite sure the cookies have browned butter which is a no brainer why they are incredible. This is an excellent spot for a study/work nook. I get the feeling this is tucked away enough from the mainstream that you could quickly become a regular. Really good space and seating, relaxing outdoor vibe. There was no background music which was super weird to me but would be great for peaceful work space. Lattes (had mocha and a regular) were delicious and hot. I’ve seen a lot of comments here about staff attitudes and the young woman who prepped our drinks was very friendly and pleasant! I think their little owl logo is absolutely adorbs, so there’s that ? enjoy!

The coffee is good- I wish I could have had a better experience but the guy with the long blonde hair who took my order was beyond rude. He made me feel like I was interrupting his conversation with one of the other employees and when I said thank you he completely ignored me. Lacked basic human decency. Kindness really goes a long way nowadays and I would rather support small businesses in the area that genuinely care about their customers. It’s a shame because I enjoyed my coffee but I’m afraid I won’t be back!

Good coffee, interesting selections of beans, and now baking their own bagels in-house!

I used to love coming here until they hired new employees. I always enjoyed conversing with the short young girl and the tall kid with glasses. They always make my drinks perfectly! Not sure if they have replaced their amazing employees but now i am always greeted by a middle aged woman who is so rude every time I come in. Not only is she rude to me but to the other employees in front of me! Definitely makes it an awkward experience and not sure if I will be returning again

Stopped by while in town one morning and ordered a mocha cold brew. They made my coffee incorrectly as it was not a mocha but it was the most delicious cold brew I've ever had. I wish I knew what they accidentally made me. :)

Second State is awesome!! Had some friends recommended this place while I was visiting Charleston, and I’m happy they did. The coffee and food is delicious, and the staff was super friendly and ready to chat and answer my questions. Wonderful atmosphere in the seating area as well.
