We are fairly discriminating with Mexican food, being from southern CA, but this place was very good. We had Flautas and Carnitas as take out. Came with some good chips and a small salsa. We will definitely try it again.
When we are here from Charlotte we alway make a trip to Rio Chico. This time my daughter wasn’t that hungry and instead of splitting a meal with me, her mother, I told her to order the kids meal it would be a smaller portion. Our order was taken and when the bill came we were charged a random amount in lieu of the kids meal. When I asked Ernesto, our server, he accused me of always trying to order the kids meal and it was for kids under 12. I explained to him we would have done our order differently if he would have told us he was unable to ring the kids meal. When I spoke to the manager, who my daughter said talk with him he is always nice. Unfortunately he didn’t care about the situation and so we are DONE and will NEVER return. Rude!
Rio Grande definitely satisfied my craving for chips and salsa and then some. The salsa always tastes spicy and fresh & there was plenty of crispy chips to spare. While I've had the vegetable fajitas my last 3 visits, I tried the #5 Vegetarian Dinner which came with a Veggie Burrito, Cheese Enchilada, Rice, and Refried Beans. Everything was delicious! This place is a definite step above most cheap Mexican restaurants! And oh how I love that they have circular crushed ice! The last time I had a margarita I thought it was weak but as far as food and service go, this place rules.
My wife and I were in town visiting a friend, and he suggested meeting here for dinner. We happened to arrive at the same time on a Friday night at 6:30, and we were seated right away. The server was very friendly, and conversed in Spanish with our friend, a native of Puerto Rico. We had reviewed the menu online in advance, and we had decided to share Enchiladas de Mole...I like to check out entrees with mole in any Mexican restaurant. Our friend ordered a fajita quesadilla...in Spanish (lol). The food arrived pretty quickly, which was surprising, as this place was really busy. The enchiladas came with refried beans and rice, and lettuce with pico de gallo and sour cream. The portion was plenty to share. And the mole? Right in the middle between red and deep brown...really good. Our friend enjoyed his quesadilla, and took half home. We had a great time, and the service and food were excellent. Highly recommended!
Delicious food and the margaritas are wonderful, too. Service was quick.

A notch above basic Mexican food. Quick, hearty, fair, consistent… Options for those who do do beef and pork. Chips are fat-free and low calorie. The latter may be a lie.
Everytime we've ordered from Rio Chicos for pickup the order is always right and when go in to pick up at the bar the staff is awesome especially the lady bartender!!!
Quite pricey, but wonderful food. I got a shrimp quesadilla and it was excellent. Friendly staff.
I LOVE Mexican food and this was a great find! Located in Belle Hall Shopping center- have a very extensive menu with great variety, a very cozy and comfortable dining room (sat in a booth, bar area)and our server was very attentive and kind. Would highly recommend- this will be my new top choice for Mexican food in Mount Pleasant!!
