My daughter and I had a lovely meal at Red Drum. We split the chips & guacamole appetizer and the market fish special. The guacomole was flavorful and full of avocado chunks. The fish was perfectly cooked. The highlight, however, was the ratatouille under the fish made from vegetables from local gardens. I could have made a meal off the ratatouille alone. The only down side was noise. There were several large tables in the room where we were seated and it was difficult to carry on a conversation over the noise from those tables.
When it comes to the Red Drum experience, words do so little. For a month and a half, I searched and searched for the perfect place to host my 26th birthday dinner. I am a very affectionate and emotional person, so I wanted an intimate ambiance where I could look at my closest family and friends and enjoy my time basking in their love. After a very grueling process, I stumbled upon Red Drum from a random Google search. I searched their Private Event options and the Wine Room drew me in immediately. At first glance, it fit my expectations perfectly. From there, I got in contact with Ms. Mary Catherine Chance and I could not have been in better hands. Ms. Chance answered every single question I had with such patience and reassurance- and there were many. I never had to worry or be confused about anything. Finally, the day came. I arrived at the restaurant 1hr late gathering everything for my birthday, but Ms. Chance continued to reassure me that everything was fine. She was so kind and she even helped me and my boyfriend bring in decorations from the car. The wine room was even better in person at first entry. It seemed like a scene out of a movie. It took about an hour to decorate and I felt supported as many staff entered and expressed how beautiful everything was looking. Then, I was introduced to Rob (my waiter for the evening), and oh my goodness- words also do little in describing the caliber of service that he is capable of. He was very thorough. He wanted to help me in every way possible. He explained the menu and gave me every option for a toast I wanted to make at the end of the night. Rob and Jen were a packaged deal for the night and again- I could not have asked for a better duo. Jen offered to light candles for me and put the glasses that I brought through the wash before drinking out of them. Even though my requests were not outrageous, there was no pushback at anything I asked. Throughout the evening, Rob and Jen were never too far away. And, don't get me started on the food, guys. I ordered the Filet of Beef and I do believe that I will be thinking about it for a very long time. Even if I do end up forgetting about it, it will be the type of memory that hits me out of nowhere when a conversation piece reminds me of good food. It was just that exquisite. My family and friends are still raving about their dishes and how we were trying to eat in small morsels so that we may be able to take some home. The amazing service did not stop after the check was paid. Jen and Rob made sure to clean my dishes and give them back to me while also helping with the breakdown. I could go on and on and on about this restaurant. I think I have gone on and on, but I felt that I needed to. I will return to Red Drum and recommend it to everyone I can. I do believe that everyone should experience what I have.
**Be aware that they charge 4% Processing Fee for payments made with a credit card**Giving 3 stars - in general service was good and we liked the atmosphere.. Unfortunately I really hated my dish. We came for a Sunday brunch and I ordered Huevos Rancheros. I had this dish before and expected tomatoes or salsa, but instead I got a hot red sauce poured over my eggs in abundant quantity. My tears came out and I asked waiter to bring me a piece of bread because the dish was super hot and I didnt expect it and needed something to calm my stomach down... I was charged for a piece of bread. At the end I was surprised to see an additional 4% fee because I paid with a credit card

I would highly recommend for any location. We ate in the wine room and it was an amazing atmosphere.

Way overpriced for what you get. $17 for plain refried beans with a little chorizo & cheese on top. Fried shrimp was really good but the oil needed to be changed. The best thing we ordered was the potato augratin. It was maybe six small bites and it was $10 for a tiny side. My husband ordered the scallops that were good but he got six the size of quarters for $32. We used to love this place, not anymore unfortunately. To top if off I had reservations and when we arrived “they couldn’t find them”! I showed manager my resy confirmation and he said nothing at all. Not an apology or anything. It was disappointing! Won’t return!
The meal was good, not great. The salmon appetizer was disappointing and the entree’s (besides the enchiladas) were pretty bland. The excellent service was definitely a redeeming quality.
My wife and I took our daughter and son-in-law here for dinner. The Chip and Salsa appetizer was very good. I ordered two different mixed drinks and both were not correct. I’ve been drinking Hendrix Gin for a long time. Didn’t get the Hendrix or the Kettle One we ordered. My Salmon was okay. Nothing to brag about. My wife had the taco’s which she said were okay as well. Neither one of us were impressed with this restaurant. Pretty expensive for the food you get. They also are adding the credit card charge’s to your bill as well. You may want to look a little harder for a restaurant. Lot’s of tourists places in Mt Pleasant and Charleston.
Good happy hour. very mixed bag of people with similar vibes it was like couples in their 60s and guys and girls in their 30s grouped but cool with each other. fries are awesome. so yes you would like an appetizer, please and thank you
