I was there when they opened Pier 41 Five(?) years ago. Tasty local oysters, inspired asian options and a charming bar staff tendina a well stocked bar. No more. The "House taco" is now a freezer burned strip of flounder, with some kind of red sauce on top of an uncooked flour tortilla, right out of the bag. The fried rice tasted like it had come from the deli counter discount bin at the local bi-lo. Incredible, since the dish was recommended by the waitress. The bar staff was well tattooed, including one with a full arm of black flowers and each knuckle tatted up with a slogan of some kind. Fine for NYC; SC, not so much. Hate to leave a bad review, but Pier 41 used to be a hidden gem. Now its circling the drain.
Oh my. Where do I begin. This is a small out of the way restaurant that is truly a hidden gem. The atmosphere was fun and relaxing, our waitress was so sweet and seemed to really enjoy her job. AND the food was amazing. Steamed Tower was so good.
We had reservations elsewhere for a busy Saturday night. After a horrible dinner at the sister restaurant the night before for the restaurant expecting us at 7pm on Saturday, we started scrambling to find a new place. We dropped reservation requests via google at a bunch of different places and Pier 41 was able to take a party of 5 at 7pm. A little worried because it was incredibly busy but...we were pleasantly surprised. Great atmosphere first off. Second, we were immediately greeted by the bartender who pointed out the table they had waiting for us. Service was quick. Food was EXCELLENT! We had great crab legs, steamed shrimp, lobster roll and OMG the lobster mac n'cheese! Fantastic place that saved our impression of Charleston area dining! Next time we'll be back for more of that crab dip!
Never actually eaten here. Just got to see the restaurant through a blurry facetime video. Looked great.
Great service. Good food. Fun atmosphere. Bartender has all my respect. She worked her a$$ off
Excellent food and service! Delicious crab dip, raw oysters and ramen!
First time here the other night and we really enjoyed it ! You cannot beat the happy hour deals and weekly specials! From 3-4 every day (and 3-6 on Mondays!) they do $1 oysters and $1 champagne- say what?! We had some oysters, the mussels and crab legs. It was my first time having crab legs and they were amazing !! I had tried lobster before and the crab legs were just as good as lobster I couldn’t believe it! The seasoning was just right too! I didn’t love the oysters as while they were shucked, there were a lot of shell pieces in them. The mussels however were really good and the sauce was delicious and a unique flavor profile! Lisa and the team were super awesome sweet and friendly ! I think we will frequent this spot moving forward and I recommend checking it out!
This is the second time we have been there. The 1st time, last year, was amazing!!! The service, the food, all amazing! Tonight, a little dissatisfied. The service was great, the food very tasty but not as fresh, but overall very good. The issue we had was there were too many fruit flies and dirty glasses. We felt bad for the waitress who was clearly working her butt off and definitely addressed the issues. Seems they let their original drive down a little and the cleanliness and quality suffered, at least tonight it did. We will certainly give it another try. Hoping they work through the challenges.
This has become our neighborhood place. Brandon, Sarah, Kat, Julio, Jordan, Austin, Shiloh and the whole team treats everyone like friends. The menu always has something new and worth trying. Their seafood got us in the door the first time and coming back for more. It’s hard to put this place in a box. They cover the spectrum from traditional foods that the kids may like to dishes with a cajun influence. And just when you think you have them pinned down, you discover they have an Asian fusion side to their menu. Be sure to have the edemame while you figure out your main dish. They have also brought back a sushi chef (Hunter) who will knock your socks off. The only down side is that the traffic at SC 41 and US 17 stinks, but this place is worth that headache. So glad we have found this wonderful place in MTP!!!
