Never heard of this place but my son said he’d been hearing good things. Thought I’d been transported back in time. Blues music out of a stereo was first clue this was going to be different. Older black gent wearing a yellow shirt, suspenders and a fedora asked me what I wanted. Told him burger with grilled onions. When he said the onion rings were fresh I was all in. About 15 minutes later I got a plate of some of the best onion rings around as well as a burger with so many grilled onions that I wasn’t sure there was a burger underneath when the order came. I could barely eat half. What a way to clog your arteries! Also, cash only.

One of the best burgers I have ever eaten in my life! My husband ordered okra as a side and I had the onion rings— both cooked to perfection. I could hardly contain my excitement when I saw what style the onion rings were— the skinny, thin style. It reminded me of my mom’s home cooked meals! The root beer was also fabulous! I would love to return the next time we visit Mt. Pleasant!

H & R Sweet Shop on Royall Avenue in Mount Pleasant is a great place to go for delicious and flavorful food in a relaxed atmosphere for an excellent value. I really like the menu that they have here with the sandwiches and seafood. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating to make sure that you have everything that you need.

Delicious food, great atmosphere, kind and warm stuff:)Highly recommend to visit !

Me and my wife just had a craving for some soul food and man am I glad we found this place. The food was amazing and for the price it is unbeatable from anywhere in this area. HIGHLY recommend to anyone, will absolutely be going back.

Please pleasePlease fry or idk season the chicken away from the seafood. It was all I could taste which is extremely unfortunate. If someone had a seafood allergy that would be dangerous.

This is one of those places that you hear about how good it is but you've yet to see or visit the place. So it's sort of like an urban myth. Then one day you happen to be in the right place at the right time and BAM there it is. You stumble across it. You walk in and you automatically feel as if you're in Grandma's kitchen! The scent of freshly prepared food. The smile of the lady that greets you and takes your order. The light sound of jazz playing in the background. These are all signs that let you know you've just entered an establishment with rich history and great food nonpareil to anyplace you've ever been. I had the fried porkchops with a couple of down home sides. I even grabbed a cheeseburger to go afterwards. Which like everything else was hand-made and fresh and prepared with nothing short of a Grandma's but in this case Grandpa's love. That's right there was a gentleman throwing down in the kitchen the day I visited H&R Sweet Shop! All I can say is get there and get there fast! I'll definitely be going back with my 3 sons very soon. Don't meet us there....beat us there!

Okay, my dining experience here was memorable to say the least. Ordered fried shrimp plate and cheeseburger all the way. What followed was excellent food (seriously), even better conversation with Mr. Coffee and Ms. Renee (sp?), and what had been a not so good day and turned into a great one. Please support these folks, and give the seafood side of the menu a shot;) it’s all good but that side may really stick with you.

I've heard about them for years and finally made it. I had the pork chop with lima beans and rice. DELICIOUS! Going back on a Friday, to try to fish and red rice.
