We moved to Summerville, SC recently. We ate at Five Loaves in Summerville several times. This time they had a new vegetarian entree so go again!

I like five loaves except for two recent changes:1- get rid of the dang economic impact fee. You’re always packed and your food prices are not cheap as is after your menu price escalation. Covid is over. Feels like you’re scamming your loyal customers with an extra 10% charge.2- you poisoned me with gluten and assured me it was gluten free. That was not fun. Then the waiter and manager didn’t even apologize.Besides that no complaints.

Four of us ate there on 4/18. The food tasted fine but the service was very rushed. We were not even halfway finished with our appetizers when our entrees arrived. My entree was lukewarm at best when it arrived, but by the time I finished my appetizer, it was cool and not as good. For the price we paid, it was not a great dining experience.

The service here was excellent! We came around 8:00 PM for dinner and were not disappointed. We started with the goat cheese gnocchi which was AWESOME! For the main course, I had the tortellini which was delicious as well. The bread brought out to the table is also very good. Can’t wait until we return to the area to visit this place again!

My husband had the chicken chili and Reuben sandwich. He enjoyed both. I had the chicken salad sandwich on multi grain. I'm all about the ratio. To me, there was too much lettuce but that was an easy fix. Chicken salad was delicious and had grapes in it. Bread was delicious too. Great lunch stop.

Today my wife and I decided to come to our favorite restaurant. We get the same thing almost every time, so we had no need to look at the menu. My wife ordered the shrimp gnocchi, and when it was served, we were incredibly disappointed. The dish that was once covered in a rich sherry cream sauce was replaced with some kind of soupy buttery substance. Although she tried to make the best of the situation she couldn't stop thinking "what the heck is this". We looked at the menu and saw that the ingredients had totally changed. She was heartbroken! Not to mention she is pregnant, so emotions were through the roof. Long story short is she got so upset that I now have to sleep on the couch...PLEASE BRING BACK THE ORGINAL RECIPE.

Had to visit on a very brief recent trip-an old favorite. Staff is always nice and it’s very family friendly. Menu is good food done right and reasonably priced. Never falls short, great cocktails and veg options. Even the kids menu is a notch above most places!

We met another couple for lunch on a busy Sunday. Our friends arrived before us, put their names down, and we had to wait about 30 minutes for a table, which on a busy Sunday, I consider reasonable. My wife and I ordered the potato cheddar soup and veggie Benny, both of which were very tasty. Our server Emma was very good, but did not ask us if we wanted our beverages refilled.

I have always enjoyed the quality of the food at five loaves, and always felt satisfied when I left. But this time, at lunch on a weekday, I took the servers suggestion of trying the Reuben sandwich, and found it to be wanting in every regard.First of all, it was puny: it was cut in half and I could Place the bread from 1/2 of the sandwich in the nook between my thumb and forefinger, and leave nearly a knuckle exposed. And there was no noticeable dressing, the sauerkraut had little bite, And the rye bread was just as unremarkable as everything else.Update Feb 15, more than a week following my Post:I saw the Owner’s response, and as requested, emailed my contact information more than a week ago, and have yet to receive a response.

Living up to its name, Five Loaves knows how to do bread and delicious sandwiches. My favorite is the vegetarian Portobello Goat Cheese Burger which has the perfect crispness of a falafel with a creamy umami taste.Excellent service too!
