We chose Coleman Public House for our lunch stop after our Fort Sumter tour on Fathers Day. Our server recommended the burgers. We had a 7-top and 4 of us ordered a different burger. Only one was cooked correctly, the others were over cooked. However, I will mention that they were still juicy and not dry so none of us complained. (This is the reason for the removal of a star.) Other orders included a Caesar salad with grilled chicken and grilled cheese (regular and kids)… all excellent. Our server was attentive and friendly. (I think her name was Megan.) Overall, we had a great experience here and we would recommend it!
This place is fantastic! It has a pub vibe and feel but the food is fantastic! The sandwich/burger menu remains fairly constant but the dinner menu changes somewhat frequently based on availability of fresh ingredients. Rest assured that anything you order here will most likely be some of the best you’ve ever had! I have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. The last time I visited I was there with a bunch of Navy veterans that had spent a lot of time in Scotland and several of them ordered Fish & Chips. All of them agreed it was the best they had ever had outside of Scotland!I ordered the Seafood Linguine (Shrimp and Little Neck Clams) and it was fabulous! They have a good craft beer selection both on draft and in cans/bottles. They have a full bar with many specialty cocktails available. We were seated promptly and the service was exceptional! Cheers!
Good food - the aloha fries were over the top delicious. Words don’t do them justice- just get them!! We split a wedge salad to start, and it was a pleasant surprise that it came out of the kitchen on two plates for us. Burger was cooked well- true medium and they had a nice selection of craft beers. Our server, Cam, was a highlight of the visit- attentive and pleasant.
We traveled to Charleston from Connecticut and we had planned to visit Patriot's Point museum one of the days we were there, so I looked for places with good reviews to eat at that were in the area. After visiting the museum we were starving and drove to Coleman's Public House. When we got there, we weren't initially impressed with the outside of the building, it was in a little strip mall and very unassuming. However once we sat down to eat, we were SO happy we chose to eat there. We ordered the Spinach & Artichoke dip as an appetizer and it came with triangles of warm, soft pita bread and the dip was hot and cheesy...so good. My son and I ordered the Coleman burger and my husband got the California burger and they were hot, juicy and cooked perfectly! The fries were amazing as well, they were fresh, hot and still had some potato skin on them. They had a perfect amount of crispiness and weren't soggy...they also were seasoned perfectly. We kept joking that out of all the "fancy" restaurants in Charleston, we liked our meal at Coleman's the best. If you're visiting the area, don't miss this lunch spot, especially if you're over at Patriot's Point!
We were just looking for burgers. What we found were delicious salads, fabulous and innovative burgers, the most incredible fries I have ever eaten and such a nice waitress! This was a great place! The shrimp and corn fritters were very good. We split salads which was done in the kitchen for us and the plates were beautiful and delicious. We had both the beet salad and the Greek salads and both were excellent. Burgers were also split for us in the kitchen, cooked as ordered and had delicious flavor. We were so impressed with the Aloha fries - sounded over the top and they were over the top delicious. So glad we gave Coleman’s Public House a try. Look forward to going back, Highly recommend!
Stopped in for lunch while in the area. The service was fantastic and attentive. The burgers were large and flavorful. They were cooked to exactly how each person had requested. The French fries were perfectly cooked. I had the Parmesan Truffle fries and they were delicious. We would highly recommend and we will be back again when in the area!
Good place for a quick bite. My client has an awesome burger, I had the fish and chips.
I came into pick up a order and as I walked in the door the young lady standing up front didn't even want to speak I had to greet her. Secondly I asked her after about 5-7 minutes if she could please check the wait time for the order and she answered with a mumble. So I asked her to repeat what she said and then she says she cant go check that if I wanted to leave I could. Then I went and asked the bartender how long the order would be. And asked where the manager is. He said on break and asked what's wrong I repeated the above statement and I left. Then I called the manager and she responds its a 16 year old hostess and I responded age has nothing to do with service. If you want a job and to get paid you have to speak when customers come in so that they can feel welcome. And I gathered that someone who works their hired her because she is possibly a relative and want to justify her standing at the door leaning on the counter twiddling her thumbs. When drivers come in we are representing our customers and communication is key and so is service. So the manager having a smart mouth and justifying isn't preparing her for the world of work. Restaurants shut down they are blessed to be open and if they can't service customers properly it will bring down service levels. And cause customers to go elsewhere but the mindset that we are beneath them as delivery drivers is a poor excuse. Customers deserve the same service to know what the delay is for the wait on food they are paying for.
Listen to me closely. Don’t let the photos fool you, this place is very nice, quaint, fairly quiet, family oriented and with southern class. We had the tomato napoleon app, the Asian glazed rib app, the fish and chips and the blackened blue burger. “I defy you to find a place that has a better burger. This is a sizable burger. Again, I defy you”. <—that came from my husband. I’d recommend all that we tried and the Stone IPA is the very good as well.
10/10 recommend. Atmosphere is perfect, food is amazing and could not have asked for better service. We got a couple hot toddy’s, the spinach dip and the aloha fries (amazing). For our main courses we got the seafood linguine, pan seared chicken and the tuna plate. We were all delighted with our choices and no one left hungry. Will absolutely go back.
