I am not from South Carolina but I travel often. I have been a veteran in the gaming industry for the better part of two decades and as a result, I have been in many local gaming/hobby stores. In my experience, The Side Deck - Gaming Cafe is one of the best local gaming/hobby store I have ever been to.1. They offer a wide variety of products, across many games (board games and TCGs, amongst other types of games). Often if they do not have something, they will attempt to either find it or provide helpful information on what the customer can do or go in order to find the item, even if not being purchased directly from them.2. Their prices are extremely reasonable and tend to sell their items at prices that are reasonable, and not always based on the current value of an item (if that item happens to currently be sold elsewhere for unreasonable prices).3. Their staff are always knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely helpful.4. The Cafe section of their business is amazing. When in town, I definitely prefer getting my caffeine fix here instead of a Starbucks.5. I just get a general "family" vibe every time I come here, which is always great.My experience here is so positive, that every year I do my best to fly out to their annual store anniversary celebration event, where they not only celebrate another year of business, but celebrates another year of being a part of an amazing gaming community.If you are in town and looking for a nice place to grab a cup of coffee/tea or maybe looking for some gaming supplies or a place to play and meet other gamers that share your interest, I would highly recommend checking out this place.
I came here to buy some dice for myself and a gift certificate so my boyfriend could buy some Magic cards. Clean and friendly atmosphere. Lots of fun things to choose from. Staff was very knowledgeable. I will certainly be back!
Passing thru on a road trip, my son (Pokémon lover) found it on Google maps. Cannot say enough about how fantastic The Side Deck was. The staff (several of them!) took so much time + patience to help my son. The owner played a game with my 2 girls while we waited… and my husband + I had some of the best coffee we’ve ever had! The amount of love + time they put into their coffee bar didn’t go unnoticed. Such a great place! Will continue to support online + definitely stop in next time we’re passing thru!
If you are looking for a friendly and competitive environment for a variety of games such as trading card games and some board games, then The Side Deck is the place to visit. From card shopping to game playing, the staff is incredibly helpful and they do a wonderful job of making everyone feel welcome! And with a full coffee bar, there's something here for everyone.A couple of things to note: the establishment does currently (Feb. 2022) require masks. The Side Deck is also very active on social media, so tournaments and events are listed and updated often.
I just stopped in here to look at the Monopoly selection, they have a bunch of options for board game enthusiasts and very friendly staff. The lady I spoke to was very helpful and welcoming, and Kevin made me an amazing Italian soda. I'll be back soon for sure!
Every time my fiance and i come here we have to wait for the better part of an hour or more to be attended to. We are typically selling to them and i guess that means we are secondary clientele. And we leave our cards there for DAYS and come back to have to wait ridiculous amounts of time for them to get to us and then STILL have to go through the cards that have been sitting there.
